Princess Diana Left Touching Final Gift For Sons When Harry Turned 30

Several years before her tragic death, the Princess had laid out in her will that William and Harry would inherit the majority of her estate when she died.

Diana had requested that in the case of her death her estate be placed into a trust, which William and Harry would have access to when they were 25.

However, the trustees of her estate were given permission to change some details of her will after her death.

They decided to give the princes their share of her possessions - including her iconic wedding dress - when they both hit 30, rather than 25.

The dress was handed over into Harry and William's possession in 2014, the year Harry turned 30.

The silk gown was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel for her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles and features thousands of pearls and a 25ft train.

She also incorporated various elements to cover the old adage - something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue - meaning the dress had antique lace belonging to Queen Mary, the new dress, a borrowed Spencer family tiara and a small blue bow sewn into the waist.

"It was everyone's idea of a fairy princess.

"The time was perfect for that. It was a time of frills and flounces."

The princes have since loaned out the dress to the Historic Royal Palaces, where it is part of the Royal Style in the Making exhibition at Kensington Palace.

Organisers of the exhibition say the dress is 'now among the most famous in bridal history'.

It'll be on display at the exhibition until January next year.

In addition to the wedding dress, the princes were also given other personal items including jewellery and tiaras, photographs and letters.

They were also given the lyrics and score to Elton John's adapted version of 'Candle in the Wind', which was performed at her funeral.
