The attraction will combine hundreds of water-based activities with wellbeing treatments, art, nature and technology to create a unique experience never before seen in the UK.

The brains behind it is the global wellbeing organisation Therme Group who plan to open in 2023 after spending a whopping £250 million ($339 million) on the park.

It will be located in TraffordCity, Manchester, and will be found right opposite the Trafford Centre.

According to Therme, visitors can expect an experience 'far beyond anything offered in a hotel, gym or holiday resort, at a fraction of the cost'.

Better than a holiday... fraction of the cost. This is music to my ears.

So what can we expect? Well, there will be gardens, terraces, and a large family zone which will be filled with waterslides, a wave pool, indoor and outdoor pools, steam rooms as well as palm tree relaxation areas.

There will also be an adults' area (now we're talking) which will boast some swim-up bars - just try not to ask for two beers in Spanish.

In that area, there will also be warm-water lagoons, therapeutic mineral baths as well as steam rooms and saunas.

Visitors will be able to take part in water-based fitness classes and the gardens will make the perfect space for classes such as yoga and pilates.

On top of all this, there will be bars, cafés and restaurants because we all know how ravenous swimming makes you. These will offer everything from snacks and light bites to à la carte service.

Did anyone else just used to get chips and gravy with a Choc Dips dessert?

Speaking about the plans - and specifically, the green light to continue on the journey - Stelian Iacob, Senior Vice President of Therme Group Worldwide and CEO of Therme Group UK, commented: "We are delighted that planning has been approved so we can bring the UK's first Therme Group city wellbeing resort to Manchester.

"This will transform life for city residents and people further afield, creating a fun and accessible experience with profound health and wellbeing benefits for all."

James Whittaker, Peel L&P Group Development Director, added: "The creation of Therme Manchester will bring an accessible, yet world-class health and wellbeing attraction to the people of Greater Manchester and beyond.

"It will transform TraffordCity, bring fantastic employment opportunities as well as bolster the regional economy including tourism and be a key contributor to the Northern Powerhouse."
