Donald Trump had a pretty bizarre response when he was asked a question about a reported boycott of the show he attended, where he was both 'booed and cheered'.
The US president, who turns 79 on Saturday (14 June), attended the opening show of Les Misérables at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington on Wednesday night (11 June).
It's the first time Trump has come to the Kennedy Center after he fired the leadership, promising to get rid of what he called the 'woke' programming of the left.

“The Kennedy Center is coming back,” he said ahead of the show. “It was not properly taken care of and we are taking it back and we are going to turn it back into something great.”

Trump's comment about the actor's reported boycott
Prior to the show when Trump was walking the red carpet with wife and First Lady Melania Trump, he was asked by reporters about a reported boycott by actors of the show.
Houston Public Media reported that some of the cast members planned to walk off the stage in protest, as well as a group of ticket holders donating their tickets to a team of drag performers when they found out that Trump, JD Vance and their wives were attending the event.

When asked about this, Trump seemed to ridicule the actors by replying: “I couldn’t care less, honestly, I couldn’t.
“All I do is run the country well. The economic numbers you saw them today, they’re setting records. We took $88 billion in tariffs in two months, far beyond what anybody expected.

“There’s no inflation. People are happy. People are wealthy. The country is getting back to strength again. That’s what I care about.”
Well according to the most recent figures, the US Inflation Rate 'is at 2.35 percent, compared to 2.31 percent last month and 3.27 percent last year'.

"The US Inflation Rate is the percentage in which a chosen basket of goods and services purchased in the US increases in price over a year," Y Charts, who provided the figures, explained.
The numbers are said to be accurate as of May 2025.
Trump 'booed and cheered' at event
The comments were made before Trump was both 'cheered and booed at the Kennedy Center', according to Reuters White House Correspondent Jeff Mason.
After sharing a video of what went down on X, Mason posted a picture of the drag queens, adding: "People dressed in drag at the performance of Les Miserables at the Kennedy Center, a nod to criticism by @realDonaldTrump that the center put on drag shows before he took over."

Viewers, however, were divided over whether Trump was booed more or cheered more, as one person commented: "Those aren’t boos, they are chanting “I love YYOOOOUUUUUUUUU” !!"
"There will always be haters," a second wrote.
While a third said: "WHO would cheer for this man especially at a place he tore up because he can’t stand diversity in anything!!"

"Boos won no contest," another added.
