One of the unofficial jobs of being married to a Hollywood A-lister is answering all the questions they're too busy to answer themselves.
For Colin Jost, that recently involved clearing up how to actually pronounce his wife Scarlett Johansson's surname.
The question cropped up during a taping of Pop Culture Jeopardy!, a game show the comedian has hosted since 2024, while he was taking questions from the studio audience.
In a clip shared by Pop Culture Jeopardy! on social media, Jost, 44, was asked: "How do you pronounce your wife's last name? Is it 'Jo-hansson' or 'Yo-hansson'?

The Saturday Night Live star chuckled at the question before turning back to the audience and joking: "I don't know, I've never met her in person yet. I want to hear how she says it."
Jost, who married the Avengers and Jurassic World actress back in 2020, continued: "I mean, I certainly say 'Jo-hansson' - I mean, I don't say it really ever..."
He went on to explain that, given Scarlett's family history, her surname was likely pronounced differently at one point in time.
"It was originally - she's Danish. I think her family is kind of a mix. Probably went back and forth a little bit between Denmark and Sweden," he explained to the audience.
"So... it was 'Yo-hansson' probably originally. And I was probably 'Yost' in Germany. But now that's all long forgotten.
"We changed together, all our ancestors coordinated."
The celebrity couple first crossed paths on the set of Saturday Night Live in 2006, when Johansson was hosting the show and Jost was working as a writer.
More than a decade later, they began dating before tying the knot in 2020 and welcoming their son, Cosmo, the following year.
Jost has never shied away from poking fun at the fact his wife - once the highest-grossing actress in Hollywood - is the bigger star, regularly joking about Johansson's A-list status on Saturday Night Live.

Earlier this year, during the Weekend Update segment of SNL, Jost's co-host Michael Che reported on the Finnish couple who won the 2026 'wife-carrying race' in the UK, before adding: "while once again, the winner of the Husband Carrying contest was Scarlett Johansson."
Acting insulted, Jost replied: "We both put food on the table... They’re different kinds of food."
Fortunately, it seems Jost is more than happy to answer the occasional question on his wife's behalf, while she takes care of the paychecks.
