Donald Trump sat down for an interview for Meet the Press over the weekend, and it served as another reminder of his friction with traditional media outlets.
That’s because when I say Trump ‘sat down’, I should also add ‘he got up and left’.
Yep, the US president ended up storming out of the interview with Kristen Welker after she repeatedly challenged him on several claims.
Seated in what could be compared to a promo set for Clarkson’s Farm, the chat took place in a barn with Trump appearing at a farmers' event in Wisconsin.

And it was off on a bad note from the beginning, with repeated delays due to rain throwing it down on the metal roof.
NBC say the interview then lasted about 50 minutes before the president walked out.

Welker questioned Trump over his long-running claims that the 2020 presidential election, as well as the current primary elections in California, were ‘rigged’.
The reporter pressed him for evidence on the state’s vote as he said: “All I have to do is look, and I listen.”
And she wasn’t letting him get on with that, replying ‘that’s not evidence’ which led to him hitting out at the network as he fumed: “You’re a one-sided crooked network.”
Trump then ended the whole interview as he said: “Sorry, let's call it quits because I've had enough.
“Thank you, darling. Have a good time.”
Welker pleaded with the president to carry on with it, seeing as she’d trekked herself over to Wisconsin just for their interview, but he was having none of it.
“I sat in the rain with you for an hour,” he said.
“On and off in the rain, and I’ve given you enough time. You ought to straighten out your press,” he added. “A country can never be great with a dishonest press.”

After the interview was broadcast yesterday (7 June), Welker said: “I spoke with President Trump on Saturday and we both acknowledged the complications during the interview posed by the rain. He agreed to sit down with me for another Meet the Press interview."
It’s just not clear when this follow-up interview with him will happen, following the bitter and abrupt end.
Earlier in the interview, the president called mail-in voting ‘crooked’ and added to her: “Just like you’re crooked.”
And Welker said: "To be fair, I'm not crooked. But let's continue."
