Donald Trump slammed after posting fake Wikipedia page declaring himself ‘Acting President of Venezuela’

Some said he's looking for an Oscar after missing the Nobel Peace Prize

Donald Trump has been slammed after sharing a fake Wikipedia page with an updated job title.

The US president took to social media with a screenshot of a Wiki-esque page for himself. Except above his official title as the leader of the states, it now attributes Trump as the ‘Acting President of Venezuela’.

According to this edit, he’s been ‘incumbent’ as of January 2026.

This, of course, comes as the situation with the South American country has escalated, following the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, earlier this month.

He was taken to New York where he faced a number of charges, including drug trafficking. And as he pleaded not guilty, Maduro has upheld that he is still the rightful leader of Venezuela.

Trump had said at a press conference in Mar-a-Lago that he will ‘run’ the country as he expressed plans to go into its rich oil reserves to sell on to others.

However, as much of the globe remains divided over the actions of the US president, despite whatever take they have on Maduro’s leadership, his Wiki edit has received backlash.

Some asked if it’s ‘even legal’ as another said: “He is a clown.”

One wrote: “This lunatic thinks it's funny - international law experts and half the world don't.”

A second put: “Trump’s posting about being ‘Acting President of Venezuela’ when he’s not even acting like a president at home.”

While a third slammed: “'Acting President' indeed. Didn't get the noble piece prize so now he gone into acting trying to win an Oscar. Which he may win as this is one of the best comedy show I have seen. Just had to laugh.”

A fourth added: “And that’s not concerning at all…”

But there was really a divide over him being ‘an idiot’ or a ‘legend’.

While Trump may be seeming to attempt to claim this title, Delcy Rodríguez (Maduro’s former vice president) was sworn in as the interim leader of Venezuela.

She has vowed to work with the US and there has been comments that they have a ‘stable relationship’.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado has met with Pope Leo XIV after he called for Venezuela to remain an independent country.

“Today I had the blessing and honour of being able to share with His Holiness and express our gratitude for his continued support of what is happening in our country,” she said in a statement.

After winning the Nobel Prize in 2025, she dedicated it to Trump, along with the people of Venezuela.
