New bodycam footage of the aftermath of a recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump has revealed worrying new details.

Republican politician Chuck Grassley posted footage of a time after the shooting when a Secret Service agent and local law enforcement were standing near where the shooter had been.

A bullet narrowly missed Trump's skull on 13 July while he was speaking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and a slight turn of the head might have saved his life.

One man, 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, was shot dead at the rally by the shooter while two others, David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, were also seriously injured.

The shooter was Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old registered Republican who had managed to get up onto the roof of a building near the rally.

After Crooks opened fire, snipers responded and shot him dead, while eyewitnesses said they'd told security that someone was up on the roof ahead of time.

The bodycam footage of the aftermath of the shooting shows a Secret Service agent discussing the matter with local law enforcement, with the agent saying: "So this is the guy."

Someone else said that a 'Beaver County sniper seen and sent the pictures out', confirming that 'this is him'.

During the discussion someone said that the sniper 'sent the original pictures, and seen him come from the bike, and set the book bag down, and then lost sight of him'.

The conversation indicates that security did know about Crooks before he opened fire, with the aforementioned sniper managing to get a picture of him.

They then spoke of an abandoned bike nearby and whether that could have belonged to the shooter.

The fallout from the assassination attempt that came millimetres from hitting the intended target has resulted in the resignation of US Secret Service director Kim Cheatle.

Politicians had questioned her about how the incident had occurred and she called it 'the most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades'.

Last night (23 July), Cheatle resigned, saying she took 'full responsibility for the security lapses'.

Security expert Will Geddes told LADbible that the event was an 'apocalyptic disaster', explaining that it was an 'absolute joke' that Crooks was able to take several shots at Trump.

He also criticised Secret Service agents for not getting Trump off the stage quickly enough, and noted that some of the agents weren't as tall as the former US president which meant their ability to shield him was hampered.
