Hilaria Baldwin shares secret to 14-year marriage with Alec Baldwin despite 26-year age gap

Hilaria Baldwin has opened up about has made her marriage to Alec Baldwin successful.

The celebrity couple have been together for 14 years, and despite a big age gap of some 26 years between them have gone from strength to strength.

The opening stages of any relationship might be filled with the throes of the honeymoon phase, but how do you keep the romance alive once this has passed?

Yoga instructor Hilaria spoke to The Daily Mail at the cover party for Spotlight magazine, which was hosted at One Art Space, and revealed how they manage to keep things going.

The pair married back in 2012, and have since released a reality TV show, The Baldwins, in 2025.

However, there's one particular bit of advice that Hilaria shared which might surprise some people out there, as it may seem a little counterintuitive at first.

She said: "We just let each other be, and I think that’s one of the reasons our relationship has gone on as long as it has, because we are polar opposites and so different."

But it's not just giving each other enough space that keeps things going, as there's also another important aspect to keeping that spark.

This is of course keeping regular date nights going as well.

“We take a lot of time for date nights,” said Hilaria. “We’ve been traveling a lot for work recently but we try to have a lot of date nights.”

While the age gap between the pair might have raised eyebrows, Hilaria admitted that she finds it funny.

“Take a 27-year-old yoga instructor married to a rich and famous older man – it sounds ridiculous. It sounds like a bad ‘SNL’ sketch,” she said.

Alec also weighed in, praising his wife as a 'very special person'.

He said: “When I met her, she was unknown; she wasn’t a famous person. She was a hard worker and I really admired that. She’s beautiful beyond measure, inside and out.”

The pair have Carmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, Romeo, 8, Eduardo, 5, Maria Lucia, 5, and Ilaria, 3, together.

“For me, I don’t want to leave my home anymore,” said Baldwin.

Hilaria also opened up about some of the more challenging times that they've faced as a family as well, saying: “There’s been so much chaos in our lives, so much of it wonderful, some horrible things but we’ve managed to figure it out."
