Iran sends disturbing message to Karoline Leavitt following birth of second child

Two Iranian embassies have chillingly responded to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt's tweet celebrating the birth of her daughter.

Leavitt announced the arrival of her second child with her husband Nicholas Riccio on Thursday (7 May), writing: "On May 1st, Viviana aka 'Vivi' joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love.

"She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister.

"We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble," the 28-year-old added alongside a picture of her cradling the newborn.

"Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy - I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good."

Two days after her announcement, however, the Iranian embassy in Armenia responded with a disturbing response about the Minab school strike.

On 28 February 2026, a US Tomahawk missile struck the Shajareh Tayyebeh School in Minab, Iran, killing 156 people, including 120 students.

Internal Pentagon inquiries, first reported by The New York Times, determined that American forces likely struck the school unintentionally due to a targeting error.

"Congratulations to you. Children are innocent and lovable," the embassy replied on X.

"Those 168 children that your boss killed in the school in Minab, and you justified, were also children.

"When you kiss your baby, think of the mothers of those children."

The Iranian embassy in South Africa also added: “When your child grows up and reads history, she will be ashamed that you served one of the most hated governments in history.

“Your hands are stained with the blood of many innocent children, like the children of Minab.”

Leavitt previously denied accusations that the US deliberately targeted civilians.

"The Department of War is investigating this matter," she said in March.

"And I would just tell you very strongly the United States of America does not target civilians, unlike the rogue Iranian regime that targets civilians, that kills children, that has killed thousands of their own people in the past several weeks and uses propaganda quite effectively, and unfortunately, many people in this room have fallen for that propaganda."

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth also said during a Pentagon briefing that 'we, of course, never target civilian targets. But we’re taking a look and investigating that'.

Trump, meanwhile, claimed that 'based on what I’ve seen, that [strike] was done by Iran'.

Meanwhile, responding to a journalist's question about Iranian social media posts mocking Trump last month, Leavitt said: "You guys all see a lot of different messaging coming out of Iran.

"I would caution you to take anything that they say at face value. What they say publicly is much different than what they say to the United States and our negotiating team privately."
