Police have announced a major update into their investigation into the death of a man who was found in a 'pool of blood' at the Burning Man festival.
Authorities were alerted on Saturday, 30 August, that a body had been found at the festival, which is held in Black Rock Desert in Nevada, US, with responders saying the victim was a 'single white adult male lying on the ground, obviously deceased'.
Investigators are treating the matter as a homicide and have spoken to several people in the hopes of determining what happened to the man at the desert festival.
The body was taken away for medical examination.

Officers said everyone should be vigilant for the remainder of Burning Man, which concluded yesterday (1 September), while a spokesperson for the festival said 'the safety and well-being of our community are paramount' and asked people not to interfere with the investigation.
Now, there has been an update provided by the police in their efforts to look into the man's death.

Given their update, it appears as though investigators have not yet managed to identify the man who was found dead, as they recently appealed for information.
Explaining that the man died 'between 8pm and 9:30pm' local time at Burning Man at around the time the festival's titular effigy was starting to burn, they appealed for anyone with information on the deceased to come forward and help.

The Pershing County Sheriff's Office said in a release: "We are specifically looking to identify the white male adult decedent who is between the ages of 35 and 40, approximately 6 feet tall and 200 lbs, with short brown hair and facial hair.
"We are also currently seeking information regarding any suspect identifiers for any person who would commit such a heinous crime against another human being.
"At this time, no information is too small to disregard, so do not hesitate to contact my office."

Investigators have said they believe the man's death to be a 'singular crime', and that the body was found in the festival's futurist encampment.

They were first made aware of the body by another festival attendee who showed them the man 'lying in a pool of blood'.
There have been previous deaths at Burning Man, including in 2024 when a festival-goer died after suffering an asthma attack.
Torrential weather conditions also led to one person being killed in 2023, and in 2017, a man ran into the fire and lost his life.
Anyone with information on the homicide at Burning Man is asked to get in touch with investigators and reference case #25-318.
