White House quickly deletes ominous post from official account

Exactly what the posts are supposed to mean is unclear

The White House recently posted a pair of cryptic videos onto social media before deleting one of them, with the purpose behind the videos unclear.

In one of the videos posted at 10pm EST last night (25 March) there was a black screen with a phone ping sound in the background, an image of the American flag was visible for just a moment.

The other video had been posted slightly earlier that night and had the caption 'sound on' as it appeared to show someone's feet, but a woman's voice was heard to say 'It’s launching soon, right?' and they got the answer 'yes'.

That ominous video was soon afterwards deleted from social media, and the complete lack of context or information left people scrambling to try and figure out what on Earth the US government was doing posting weird clips on the internet.

What exactly was supposed to be 'launching soon' or why the White House posted and deleted a video so quickly and without explanation is anyone's guess, and the internet did have a go at guessing.

Some thought it had something to do with a 'nuclear bomb', others wondered if it might be 'aliens'.

A few wondered if it had anything to do with NASA's upcoming Artemis II mission to put astronauts further into space than ever before which could launch as early as next week (1 April).

Particularly since NASA just announced a $20 billion investment in putting boots back on the Moon and sending a nuclear-powered spaceship to Mars by 2028.

Still, without a clear explanation the reason why the White House would make this video, decided to post it and then change their minds and delete it remains unclear.

It's not the first time the White House has posted strange content on its channels, as last year the official account shared a 'nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' meme with the audio from the holiday company's adverts played over footage of people being put on a deportation flight.

After NATO head Mark Rutte referred to US President Donald Trump as 'daddy' the White House played footage of Trump at a summit with the Usher song 'Daddy's Home' playing in the background.

Official White House social media accounts also posted a meme attacking comedian Rosie O'Donnell due to a feud between her and Trump where he threatened to revoke her US citizenship, which he doesn't actually have the power to do.

People are understandably tense about what the US is going to do next as they're currently at war with Iran and making it everybody's problem.

The US has been launching plenty of things, including airstrikes, in the past few weeks, so putting up an ominous post about how something is going to be 'launching soon' and then quickly deleting it hardly fills one with confidence.

LADbible Group has contacted the White House for comment.
