Shop is giving away free Prime to 'tackle profiteering' at Wakey Wines

Let battle commence

There's a new twist in the ongoing Prime saga, as one shop is giving the in-demand drink away for free in a bid to tackle Wakey Wines' 'profiteering'.

As many of you are well aware, the Wakefield newsagent has faced an onslaught of criticism in recent weeks after selling Logan Paul and KSI's viral hydration drink for extortionate prices.

We're talking up to £100 a pop.

Despite even KSI pleading with fans to stop paying so much for his own product - which is meant to retail at just under £2 - fans continue to make the trip to the shop to sink hundreds of pounds.

But one shop in Doncaster has decided to take on Wakey Wines in what can only be described as some Grade A trolling.

Wheatley MiniMarket has gone in the opposite direction as its competitor by giving away bottles of Prime away to kids for free.

Jiy Singh, who runs the shop, has even come up with a catchphrase, much like Wakey's owner Mohammed Nasir and his famous 'Abdul, come closer' antics.

Over on TikTok, Singh can be seen handing over the free drink before asking the recipient, "What's the best shop in Wakey?" To which they reply, "Tesco." He then asks: "What's the best shop in Doncaster?"

Their response? "Wheatley MiniMarket," of course.

Singh has shared a number of videos on TikTok demonstrating his 'Free Prime Giveaway' campaign, while also trolling Wakey Wines by writing captions such as: "Tell Abdul to sit down, I'll make my own videos."

Although he would initially tag the Wakefield newsagents, he claims his account has since been banned by them.

Taking to the video sharing platform yesterday, he wrote: "Mr W***y wines blocked me, go tag his videos with @jiysingh watch this blow up... tell Mr Bingo Bingo I’ll have him a charity fight."

I'm going to predict that 'viral Prime newsagents owner charity fight' will join the list of reasons why 2023 is the weirdest year yet.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live, Singh announced the free Prime scheme while describing himself as the 'best shopkeeper in the world'.

Wheatley MiniMarket has been giving away the Prime drink to tackle Wakey Wines' price hikes.

He said: "Not for sale, it’s free and to give out to the local kids while stocks last. Seen a lot of happy faces today, not many left but il try to keep them coming in.

"I’ve seen how everyone is trying to profiteer off kids and it’s bang out of order.

"Shop local but not if they are trying to rob you with stupid prices people, think smart, with today’s economy yous need to use your moral compass and buy things at the right prices.

"If anyone is selling Prime for more than £2 they are taking you for a mug."
