A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly having sex in the shower with his pet cat.

Michael Navage was brought to cops' attention when calls were made from an apartment claiming to have heard an animal 'in distress' that 'sounded like a cat was hurt and screaming'.

According to the Metro, the caller then explained that they heard Navage 'called out for help, saying the cat was stuck on his penis'.

The witness also added that they could hear Navage yell at the cat and call it a 'whore'.

Then, in probably the least favourable position he could imagine, Navage was apparently found by officers 'naked, standing in the middle of the bathroom with a cat partially wrapped in a towel placed by his genitals'.

Navage said he had been in the shower with the animal and was using the towel to dry it off afterwards.

Michael Navage has been charged with bestiality and animal cruelty.

Navage has been charged with bestiality and animal cruelty but has denied having sex with the cat, stating that it would be 'impossible'.

According to the MailOnline, Navage boasted to authorities about the 'girth' of his genitalia being too big before adding that he 'loved' the cat - which he claimed to have had since it was a kitten.

The animal was taken to a local veterinarian and it was found to have injuries that were consistent with abuse. It was also determined that the cat had previous rib fractures and pelvic injuries which had healed over time.

Navage is also charged with drug possession after methamphetamine was found inside the bathroom.

According to police documentation, fake money and forged IDs were also found in his possession.

The Metro reported that Navage has been released from jail since his arrest and he will appear in court on 1 April.
