A terrified mum called the police after she she found a naked 'corpse' while out fishing.

Officers sealed off Brittney Pennington's garden in Virginia Beach, US, only for it to turn out that the 'deceased female' was, in fact, an abandoned sex doll.

The 25-year-old's stomach churned when she and boyfriend Taylor Day, 29, saw a foot poking from behind some rocks at the creek near their home last month.

The pair spent half-an-hour trying to work out what it was before grabbing a pair of binoculars to get a closer look.

It was then that Brittney clearly saw a pair of legs, a bum, and a pair of breasts in the distance. She quickly called 911 and informed police that they had stumbled across a body.

Moments later six police squad cars, a fire truck, and emergency medical teams assembled outside Brittney's house and cordoned off her garden.

The 'corpse' turned out to be a hyper-realistic sex doll.

Brittney, said: "It was a really scary thing to find. I remember thinking 'if there's a murderer out there we have to leave'.

"Everybody thought it was real, when the cops arrived they said, 'Yeah we might have a homicide'.

"They got their little blow-up dinghy, they rode out to it and they stayed on the rocks for about five minutes just looking around."

But horror quickly turned to hilarity as the cops realised that it wasn't such a grizzly case after all.

Brittney said: "Suddenly we saw them just pick it up, plop it in the little dinghy and come over. They asked, 'Well, are y'all missing anything?'.

"It was an abandoned sex doll, it was one of the realistic squishy ones that I guess are a good amount of money.

"When I found it was a sex doll and not a corpse we started laughing and the cops started laughing, too.

"They were just relieved it was fake. Thirty emergency service people started cracking up and everybody was taking pictures. They said, 'I don't think we're going to do any paperwork on this'."

But not wanting to have to dispose of the 'body' herself, Brittney asked the police to do one last favour for her before they left.

She added: "The trash men were on strike that week so they weren't picking up trash so I asked the cops, 'Ya'll are going to dispose of that, right, because our trash cans are full?'

"They just picked it up and hauled it away.

"I felt very relieved, but then wondered if we were going to get in trouble for calling, but they said it was better safe than sorry.

"It's definitely the first time I've ever come across anything like this while fishing before."

Virginia Beach Police Department were contacted for comment.
