A woman has been left horrified after lifting up the carpet in her new home - check out the clip below:

TikTok user @dontbeanashhole shared a clip of her grim discovery on the platform, where it's quickly gone viral.

Posting the clip, she wrote: "It's cool. Everything is fine.

"I wasn't bothered knowing someone died in my new house. But imagine my surprise when I ripped up the floor and found this."

In the clip, the woman can be seen pulling back the old carpet to reveal what appears to be the crime-scene-style outline of a body alongside the words 'Case #091101', written in black ink.

Lovely.

The woman added: "Okay, but this is actually a little creepy." You can say that again.

Fellow TikTok users were left reeling after seeing the clip with one person posting: "Nope! Sell it."

Another wrote: "Yeah, that's a body stain."

While someone else said: "Pour peroxide on the stain. If it bubbles, it's blood. If it is, you need to get out of that house."

But others suggested it may have been a joke, with one person posting: "Whoever installed the carpet drew that to freak out whoever removed the carpet.

"We did this to our old house before we put laminate down. It's a joke."

A second person wrote: "They don't do that, they use chalk - someone is pranking you."

In the comments, the householder said she believed the outline to be a joke, but insisted that someone had really died in the property, adding that the obituary for the person said they 'died peacefully at home'.

In a follow-up clip, the woman gives the peroxide trick a go - first spraying it on a patch of the 'regular floor' where no bubbles appear and then goes over to the 'questionable spot' and gives that a spritz.

When the peroxide lands on the stained wood it starts to bubble up. Yikes.

In the clip she explains: "It's different on the questionable spot." Before asking her followers what she should do.

One TikTok user suggests she now gets herself a black light to check over the area, while another simply said: "Please run." Fair point.
