What is open and what is closed in Australia over the Easter long weekend

Easter is here and with that comes the eternal question: What on God's green Earth is actually open?

You may be commemorating the crucifixion of Christianity's Jesus Christ and his subsequent rise from death this Easter long weekend, which runs from Friday April 7 to Monday April 10.

But it isn't just the Christians who have it all in hand.

This year, Ramadan is running from March 22 to April 21, so our Muslim friends will need to know when the shops are open so they can chow down when the time for fasting is over.

It's also Passover from April 5 to April 13, so a variety of different religions have reasons to come together with people of their respective faiths to mark the occasions this long weekend.

But, instead of struggling to remember which stores are or aren't open during this religious season (or even just chocolate egg season, if you're a non-believer), here's our handy guide to this Easter long weekend.

Easter Saturday: Open, also most Metro stores open in VIC, NSW, ACT and QLD.

Easter Sunday: VIC: all open except Moama. NSW and ACT: most stores closed.

QLD: open. WA: open except Esperance. SA: Rundle Mall and regional stores open, Adelaide Metropolitan Millicient closed. NT: Open TAS: Open

Easter Monday: open. Additionally, most Metro stores open in VIC, NSW and ACT. In SA, Rundle Mall and regional stores open. Adelaide Metropolitan and Millicent will be closed.
