Former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou has spoken out on the 'heartbreaking' death of a 17-year-old girl after reports claimed he was involved in a fatal motorbike accident.
The Cameroonian mixed martial artist is best known for his seven years in the UFC, where he competed in the heavyweight division.
Ngannou was known for his punching power in the sport, and had a record of 17 wins and three losses when he decided to walk away from the UFC.

Since 2023, the 38-year-old has been competing in the Professional Fighters' League, an American MMA league where he is the inaugural PFL Super Fights Heavyweight Champion.
But away from the ring, recent reports from his homeland have claimed that the experienced fighter had struck a 17-year-old while riding a motorcycle in Cameroon.
It has also been said that Ngannou took her to Yanounde General Hospital himself so she could receive treatment.

Unfortunately, she passed away from her injuries following the accident.
Ngannou says his 'heart is shattered'
Ngannou issued a statement on the incident to TMZ Sports on Friday (2 May), admitting that his 'heart is shattered' over the 'heartbreaking' death.

"From the very beginning, I have been by the family's side, offering support, comfort, and deepest condolences during this time," he said.
"I've met with them privately to share in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them every step of the way.
"I carry their pain with me, and my unwavering thoughts and support remain with them as they face this heartbreaking loss."
Ngannou noted that he couldn't discuss the subject further, as Cameroonian authorities are still investigating the incident.
Local reports stated that the combat fighter also financially supported the cost of treatments for the teenager, with Ngannou admitting he was grieving over the loss.

It was further reported that the crash took place over the Easter weekend, weeks after the sportsman had posted photos online with a motorcycle, though it is unknown if it's the same one that was allegedly involved in the crash.
LADbible has reached out to Francis Ngannou's representatives for comment.

The news comes a year after the tragic loss of his 18-month-old son, as he took to social media to share the sad news.
“Too soon to leave but yet he's gone. My little boy, my mate, my partner Kobe was full of life and joy. Now, he's laying without life. I shouted his name over and over but he's not responding," he said to fans.

"I was my best self next to him and now I have no clue of who I am. Life is so unfair to hit us where it hurts the most. How do you deal with such a thing? “How can you live with it? Please help me if you have an idea because I really don't know what to do and how to deal with this."
