An update has been given on a contestant who was left in the intensive care unit after falling during the Miss Universe competition.
While Miss Mexico won her crown as Miss Universe 2025, another competitor is currently being cared for by local doctors in Thailand after her runway walk went wrong.
Miss Jamaica, Dr Gabrielle Henry, has been in the hospital for the past few days after falling off the stage during the preliminary evening gown round during the competition.
The 28-year-old was walking down the stage on 19 November, wearing an orange gown, when she appeared to miss a step and tumbled off the high stage.

In a video posted online, you can see crew members rushing over, before the contestant can be seen secured to the stretcher and being taken towards the back of the stage.

After her fall, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation posted a statement online to state that she had been rushed to the Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Thailand, where ‘medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries; however, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery’.
Raul Rocha, the owner of the Miss Universe pageant, also shared on Instagram that he had visited her and that she was in good hands at the hospital.
In an update from the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation, which was posted to her Instagram Story on 21 November, it was revealed that Henry's sister, Dr Phylicia Henry-Samuels, and their mother, Maureen Henry, were with her in Thailand.
According to People, Dr Henry-Samuels said: "Gabby isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped, but the hospital continues to treat her accordingly."
It stated that she will need to stay in the ICU for a minimum for seven days as ‘doctors continue their close monitoring and specialised care’.
The Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation went on to ask that ‘Jamaicans at home and across the Diaspora to continue keeping Gabrielle in their prayers’, writing: "We respectfully ask the public and social media users to avoid sharing negative comments, misinformation, or speculation that may cause further distress to the family.

"Our primary focus remains on Gabrielle’s recovery and the well-being of her loved ones. We kindly request continued compassion, sensitivity, and privacy as the family navigates this challenging period."
Since then, Fatima Bosch was announced as the winner of the global pageant on 21 November after she sensationally exited an event after being berated by an event official.
According to reports, organiser and Thai media official Nawat Itsaragrisil stood in front of the women and reprimanded Bosch and claiming that she did not post promotional content on social media for the event.
She walked out, and then the other contestants also began leaving the event in her name. They were threatened with disqualification from the competition.
Itsaragrisil later apologised but went on to share a cryptic message to social media after the win was announced, writing: "A billion words that cannot be said."
Meanwhile, after her win, Bosch wrote on Instagram [translated]: "Today I reaffirmed that what God has destined for you, neither envy stops it, nor destiny aborts it, nor luck changes it. Long live Christ the King."
