NATO took action against Russia again earlier this week after Vladimir Putin sanctioned huge attacks on Ukraine.
Despite Donald Trump's best hopes of a peace deal between the two countries, which have officially been at war since 2022, Putin shows no signs of agreeing to a ceasefire, let alone a peace deal, as was hinted at when the two world leaders met in Alaska back in the summer.
The 73-year-old president has been accused of testing NATO's resolve regarding the potential for a world war, having already violated Estonia's airspace and sent drones into Poland, which were subsequently shot down, in the last few months alone.
Poland decided to take action once again last week when 36 missiles and nearly 600 drones were launched into Ukraine, as they set up military planes to patrol regions close to the Ukrainian border.

And now, after Ukraine's air force confirmed that Moscow had instigated another huge attack, which featured 653 drones and 53 hypersonic and ballistic missiles across 60 waves of airstrikes. Poland , once again, rushed to their defence.
More than 30 locations were attacked by Russia's strategic bombers, while a residential area was also hit, and Poland confirmed that it had scrambled fighter jets as a preventative measure.

The Operational Command of the Armed Forces said: “Due to the activity of long-range Russian air forces carrying out strikes on Ukrainian territory, military aviation has begun operating in Polish airspace.
“The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has activated the necessary forces and resources at its disposal.

“Fighter aircraft have been scrambled, and ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have reached a state of readiness.
“These actions are preventative in nature and aimed at securing and protecting airspace.”
Last week's attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure in eight regions are continuing to cause issues across the country, with many residents still without power.
“Port facilities [in Odesa] have also been attacked: part of the infrastructure has been de-energised, and operators have switched to backup power from generators,” the ministry said.

“Emergency repair work is already underway where safety conditions permit. Energy companies are doing everything possible to restore power to all customers as quickly as possible,”
The threat of World War Three has been an almost constant one throughout 2025, especially considering Russia's doomsday radio station has continued to send threatening and mysterious messages, many of which have considered the possibility of bombing the UK.
Although we already have a plan for where the best places to hide in the event of a Russian attack are, a nuclear war would be devastating for the whole planet, so it is a little tricky to be positive right now - even with Christmas around the corner.
