What's the worst nightmare for people who are of a nervous disposition on a plane? Turbulence? Air pressure problems? Running out of those little bottles of wine? A window cracking?
What about being hit by lightning?

Petrifying. Nay, stupefying!
The A320 was on its way to Sochi during its takeoff from Moscow's Vnukovo International Airport on January 2.
Just moments into its ascent, the plane is unexpectedly hit by a giant bolt of lightning - and although it tilts a bit, the plane seems fine. It carried on with the flight and landed safely in Sochi a few hours later.

At Sochi International Airport, the pilots were interviewed and the ground staff said: "On arrival at the destination airport at the post-flight inspection found traces of destruction of atmospheric electricity discharge."
I wonder what it was like inside the plane? - none of the passengers have come forward to share their experiences yet.

The effect of lightning when it strikes
When lightning hits people, it leaves a mark as Winston Kemp found out. The 24-year-old ran out into the rain to take his pumpkins to safety - a likely story - when lightning hit his next door neighbour's garden. Winston didn't even realise he had been hit himself until a few hours later when his arm started stinging. It left this amazing scar.
But my favourite lightning story has to be this one.

Lightning story of the decade
According to the Metro, a couple in Germany pulled over from the motorway to run into the countryside to have sex - as you do. While they were getting it on, they were struck by lightning - actually struck by a giant bolt of electricity - and freaked out. It started raining heavily and they ran as fast as they could, ultimately being found butt naked at a local petrol station.
Certainly put a spark into their relationship.
