Dr Isaac Yankem, anyone?

Kane is undeniably one of the best wrestlers to ever set foot inside the WWE ring, having won the World Heavyweight Championship twice and 12 world tag team championships alongside his on-screen brother The Undertaker.

But you might not know that two years before his debut as The Big Red Machine in 1997, Glenn Thomas Jacobs played a very different character.

The 49-year-old was first introduced to the WWE universe as Dr Isaac Yankem, an evil dentist, who was best friends with Jerry 'The King' Lawler.

Dr Yankem even had a short feud with Brett Hart, fighting at the pay-per-view SummerSlam in 1995.

However, as the character never took off with fans, he eventually left the wrestling federation. Kane re-emerged wearing a mask as it meant fans wouldn't recognise him as having played the previous character.

Despite having debuted in 1997, the Kane character didn't speak a word until 2003 when he unmasked, beginning a feud with his then tag-team partner Rob Van Dam.

Kane would go back to wearing a mask in 2011, and would later start wearing a suit between 2013 and 2015, as Corporate Kane - working as the WWE's Director of Operations.
