Phil Ivey has given his theory on what happened in the infamous poker match between Robbi Jade Lew and Garrett Adelstein, with Lew having been accused of cheating.

You can watch the moment people think Lew allegedly cheated below:

On Thursday, 29 September, professional poker player newcomer Lew stunned onlookers as she won off the back of an all-in bet in response to Adelstein's all-in for $129,0000 - which had a 53 percent chance of winning.

However, Lew was met with accusations of cheating and it was later revealed the player had returned the money she had won - totalling $269,000 - to Adelstein, simply adding fuel to the fire of cheating speculation surging around online.

Phil Ivey - regarded by many as the best all-round poker player in the world - has since shared his thoughts on the game.

After the game, Adelstein accused Lew of cheating, even taking to social media to claim he had got 'the closest [he] would get to a confession' when he confronted her.

He questioned her answers in an interview about whether or not she knew she had J4 and interrogated her 'extremely suspicious' body language and 'nervous chatter'.

Despite this - and despite returning Adelstein's chips - Lew has maintained she is innocent and claimed she simply misread her own hand.

Asked for his take on the controversial game which has stirred multiple theories online, Ivey analysed the movement of Lew's hand during the game. See his take below:

He stated: "What I think is, I think she thought she had jack three, misread her hand and she didn't want to say she misread her hand because she's at a poker table.

"That, I think, is the best, most reasonable explanation."

Ivey's own theory ultimately backs Lew's claim she misread her own hand. He noted he 'could be wrong' but ultimately believes that's the most likely explanation.

Eric Persson, owner of Maverick Gaming and a high stakes poker player himself, also echoed Ivey's thoughts.

He agreed that the explanation offered by Ivey is what 'makes sense' to him as well, before joking Lew could 'play with [him] any day'.

However, not everyone appeared as convinced by Ivey's reasoning.

One Twitter user commented: "Feels like she changed her story. She checked her hand again after he shoved, plus when he said, you have a small pair, she said ‘you give me that much credit?’ She had like 5 minutes to say she misread her hand and then later feels like she realized that was her only out."

Although, another responded: "She doesn't even have to explain. Just before that she had J3 also. It was even ran twice!"

A final agreed with Ivey. "Spot on from top player."

The investigation into the game continues and Hustler Casino revealed a lie detector test may even be used to solve whether Lew cheated or not, once and for all.
