Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram are down for plenty of users, so those heavily reliant on Meta services are having a tough time of it right now.
WhatsApp is one of the world's most popular messaging platforms, so if it goes down then so do a huge amount of people's ability to communicate.
However, it's only a problem for some users as others have realised that while the desktop versions of the apps aren't working their mobile counterparts seem to be chugging along.
That's good news for many people using WhatsApp who might not even have realised it's gone down, because who is using their desktop to WhatsApp people?

Our condolences are of course with people who do exactly that as it's not working for them right now, as poor Downdetector has had a flurry of visitors from folks checking to see if the problem is just for them or many others.

Thankfully, these outages are typically short-lived and it shouldn't be long before things are back up and running, every minute they're not is a money loss for Meta.
The issue appears to have been a worldwide matter as people suffering from the outage today (12 June) were from the UK, the Philippines, Canada, the USA, Australia and India.
As of 2pm, around 21,000 Facebook users reported to to downforeveryoneorjustme that they were unable to use the platform, with 'Inaccessible' and 'Error received' being the most reported actions.
Similar amounts flagged they were having an issue with Instagram and WhatsApp, the other big brands in Meta's stable, but others using the mobile apps appear to have been blissfully unaware their compatriots were having problems.
Naturally the usual wave of jokes about people migrating over to another social media site because their main one is down were deployed,

Meta responds to the issue
Meta has now spoken about the issue, as access to the platform begins to be restored for users across the world, with communications officer Andy Stone sharing the following statement on X: "We're aware people are currently having trouble accessing our services. We're working on it."
Since you can't brute force a broken site back into being fixed it's the waiting game for many people wanting to get back online, as Facebook appears to have come back for most people and pretty soon business as usual will resume like nothing even happened.
Just another day on the internet.
LADbible Group has approached Meta for further comment.
