As well as bringing a few fresh features and a handful of new emojis, Apple's latest software update also introduced age checks.
Any person who owns an iPhone in the UK will have been met by a prompt asking to confirm they are 18+ in wake of iOS 26.4 being rolled out back in March.
It states: "Confirm you are 18+. UK law requires you to confirm you are an adult to change content restrictions."
Brits are given the option of continuing with the age verification process or confirming their maturity at a later date - but what happens if you never get around to it?

Thankfully, a tech expert who was keen to find out the consequences of bypassing this step has done some digging.
The boffin behind the YouTube account 'Aspiration', which shares 'solutions and step-by-step tutorials' for gadget lovers, broke down what transpires after you 'dismiss the prompt, you ignore it and carry on'.
In a video shared a few days ago, the content creator explained that those who don't complete Apple's age checks are restricted from accessing a 'surprising' amount of stuff.

"If you skip verification or can't complete it, your iPhone doesn't brick itself," he explained. "But several things do change."
For starts, your experience of the App Store will be significantly altered, as there won't be as many for you to browse.
The clip explained that any apps that are adult appropriate will no longer be available to download for those who haven't verified how old they are on their iPhone.
This apparently also applies to any 18+ apps you already have downloaded too and suggests you will no longer be able to get onto them.
Similarly, 'explicit content on Apple Music and the TV app gets hidden or made unplayable' for those who skipped the age check, while 'any 18+ content you've paid for inside those services could become inaccessible'.
To try and ensure youngsters aren't able to surf the X-rated side of the web, the software update also prevents iPhone users from accessing any explicit websites via Safari.
"Adult websites get blocked at the browser level," the YouTuber explained. "Apple's communication safety features also kick in - that's the on-device AI that blurs nudity in messages, AirDrop, FaceTime and photos."

He went on to say that users who avoided the verification process have reported being given a 'persistent' nudge to complete it when using their iPhone.
So essentially, if you bypass the age verification, Apple's software will assume that you are under the age of 18 and will treat you as such by restricting what you can access.
Until you verify your age, you can't avoid these consequences.
Brits have been celebrating one of the silver linings which comes with the rollout of these age checks, though - people can now access Pornhub again after completing it.
Since February, fans of adult content who are based in the UK have been unable to visit the X-rated website without verifying their age due to the laws brought in with the Online Safety Act.
People had to start proving their age before being granted access to a host of popular sites due to the new rules that were introduced in a bid to protect children from the inappropriate side of the internet.
Pornhub's parent company Aylo has praised the age checks introduced with iOS 26.4 and confirmed that those who confirm they are mature enough to consume adult content will be welcomed 'back to Pornhub'.

"Aylo is taking a measured step to restore access to Pornhub for eligible adult users in the UK who have confirmed their age through Apple’s UK age-verification process," Aylo's head of brand and community, Alex Kekesi, said.
"Aylo was pleased to see Apple’s trailblazing announcement and subsequent deployment of the latest version of its operating system, which applies certain safety settings automatically to kids, teens, and adults who have not confirmed their age. Moving forward, age-verified iOS users reaching Pornhub will be served a standard adult user experience."
Apple says that you use a form of ID to verify your age, or alternatively, the history of your account with them can help clarify your age.
The age check prompt explains: Apple may use information about your payment methods on file or the length of time you have maintained an Apple Account to confirm you are an adult.
"A valid credit card can help confirm you're at least 18 because you must be an adult to open a credit card account."
LADbible has contacted Apple for further clarification.
