It's fair to say that the majority of people are glued to their gadgets - but most folks draw the line at surfing the web while they are submerged in water.
But apparently, this woman simply couldn't resist sneaking a scroll in during her afternoon swim.
Footage of the mystery female expertly playing on her phone, while somehow staying afloat, has been doing the rounds online over the last few days.
And although some people were left pretty impressed by her multi-tasking skills, a host of social media users have described her pool antics as 'dystopian'.

In the short clip, a host of swimmers can be seen taking a dip at the popular 'Bondi Icebergs' pool in Sydney, Australia.

It's a pretty exclusive venue which requires newbies to complete an induction process before they are accepted as a member, so it's not exactly a local lido where guests are playing Marco Polo.
In fact, most of the people in the water appeared to be taking their swimming extremely seriously in the video... except the alleged phone addict.
While swimming backwards in one of the lanes, the woman - who is kitted out in a swimming cap and goggles - can be seen clutching her device in her right hand.

She then thrusts one of her arms out of the water and holds her phone in front of her, in an apparent bid to capture a snap of her swimming.
The viral video was shared online by the meme page 'Brown Cardigan', who sarcastically captioned the post: "Good to see people just being in the moment, maximising their screen time, never not being online and oversharing every possible minute of their lives."

As you can imagine, the woman's pool behaviour prompted a lot of debate in the comment section.
The vast majority of people seemed to see that the clip as a sorry reflection of our current society and the world's reliance on technology, as one said: "There’s no coming back from where we are as a species."

Another added: "This may be the most dystopian thing I’ve ever seen," while a third simply wrote: "Doomed."
A fourth chimed in saying: "The world has gone crazy."
And a fifth commented: "Put the phone down and live in the real world. Stop existing only online!!"
However, others leapt to the woman's defence and pointed out that she may have had a valid reason for using her phone in the pool.

One asked: "Is it possible that she was just creating some sort of video or showing how to do something or simply just creating content for followers that has to do with swimming?"
Another supporter said: "What's the issue? She's enjoying herself and isn't bothering anyone."
And a third queried: "What’s worse, her doing this or filming her doing this and posting it online?"
Touché.
