Man flew all the way to Italy for a pizza because it was cheaper than a takeaway

With some free time on his hands, the lad certainly got the most for his money

One lad was so fed up with the cost of a takeaway, he decided to fly all the way to Italy and buy a pizza there.

I know, probably sounds like the kind of sh*t your unemployed friend would get up to on a random Tuesday, but you’ve got to respect the dedication.

It’s no secret that plenty of takeaways nowadays aren’t the quick and cheap option they once were. Sometimes it feels even more expensive than actually going out for tea.

And in this case, travelling from the UK to Italy for a proper pizza was less money than grabbing one from a shop on the way home.

Taking to YouTube Shorts, user MuscabSalad found that it was going to cost him £19.99 on the Domino’s website for a medium sized Original Cheese and Tomato.

Now, there’s no denying he probably could have gone to some small little takeaway joint and found some semblance of a pizza for less than a fiver.

But this is far more fun, right?

So, the lad went straight online to see just how little it could cost him to fly over the homeland of pizza and found flights to the northeastern city of Trieste.

While far from the true ‘home of pizza’ in Naples, it’s certainly closer than your local takeaway is. And the cheapest flight he found came in at just £9 with Ryanair.

“All I want Ryanair to do is get me from A to B,” he said, amazed at how cheap it was for a single, one-way ticket.

“Honestly, I think it can be done.”

Included in his cost challenge, he needed to get from the airport to the city centre, finding a train ticket for just €4.76 (£4).

“Not gonna lie, I was pretty hungry so I went to the first pizza place I could find,” he explained, sitting in a water-side restaurant under the Italian blue sky.

With £13 spent so far on travel, he luckily managed to find a margherita on the menu for £7.

And, let’s not even talk about the way he hacks into the pizza rather than cutting a slice, but it really does look pretty banging.

After one bite, he immediately says the time spent travelling was ‘worth it’ to get the Italian pizza for the same price (ignoring that 1p).

“I’d say this experience, 10/10,” he added.

Well, the only fail is that he’s likely going to have some kind of service charge and need to get back to the airport and then fly back home.

But the point is, he got out to Italy for a proper Italian pizza for less than that Domino’s would’ve cost him. Respect.
