Man who ‘slept with 1,000 women’ admits he regrets lifestyle explaining impact it had on him

Benny James used to go clubbing four times a week and drink excessively

A man has admitted that sleeping around so much in his past ended up negatively affecting his mental well-being.

Benny James, 31, has been open about his former lifestyle and how he has been able to move on from it.

Nowadays, the Croydon content creator has settled down and found a partner, no longer leading a life that was heavily influenced by alcohol.

The Brit has openly spoken about his regret for how he lived, as he would sleep with people he didn't know every week, often using social media to get in touch with sexual partners.

He admitted that 'having the buzz around you and making money' isn't worth it in the long term, issuing a warning to others who could be heading down a similar path.

Over a decade, James would use X, Instagram DMs and frequent club visits, up to four times a week, to meet women.

At the time, he wrote it off as 'just a bit of fun', though he now realises that he often slept around as he 'didn't really like being on his own'.

James said that suffering from anxiety and depression resulted in him turning to alcohol and drugs to 'improve' his self-esteem.

Reflecting, he admitted: "With me, my friends and family saw me as 'Jack the lad' - going out, having fun. But deep down, it was affecting me without me knowing, until I hit rock bottom."

Since his story came out, James has used his platforms to raise awareness surrounding mental health.

Taking to Instagram, the 31-year-old said: "To anyone suffering with mental health just remember you are a f***ing legend, because nothing is more scary than battling with your own mind every single day... don’t ever give up, speak up and get the help you need."

Now a mental health activist, James set up the 'No More Waiting' campaign, which pushes for more investment into mental health treatment, as that lifestyle can take its toll on an individual.

"When you're so used to having that attention and think of trying for a family life, it's completely different. And I think a lot of people can't handle that," he explained.

Recalling his lowest point, James said that he suffered from 'bad anxiety' and 'depression' which meant he didn't want to leave the house.

"But now I’ve kind of just found myself in a good place, and where I promote stuff for mental health and things now I get a lot of love back from it," he said of his progress.

Years on, James admits that he has finally 'found himself again'.
