New scientific quiz can tell you what level of 'kinky' you actually are

This new online quiz will tell you exactly how kinky you are

There's a new scientifically-proven quiz that can tell you just how kinky you are.

That's right, if you've got any questions or doubts about your sex life and time in the bedroom, this quiz could provide the answer.

This spicy new sexual study has given people the chance to scientifically measure their level of kinkiness with a free online test, which has been dubbed as the 'Kink Orientation Scale'.

It's an odd precedent to set, and we can thank the researchers at the University of Brighton in the UK for putting this into the public domain.

They thought that the stigma around kinks still outshines how common it has become, as people essentially like what they like.

The team published their latest findings in the Journal of Sex Research as they set out on a mission to clarify kinks in more specific ways, rather than just a sexual preference that can be perceived as weird.

But before getting into that, what exactly is a kink, and why is the stigma around it so negative?

A 'kink' can refer to any form of sex that is different to the widely depicted form of sexual activity, known by some as 'vanilla sex'.

This could involve a power dynamic (domination/submission), pain (sadism/masochism), or even control (bondage/discipline), though these are just a handful of examples in a world full of possibilities.

However, practicing these forms of sex doesn't really mean that you are 'kinky', at least according to this new scale, as it validates people's different sexual interests.

Research into what a kink really is was dependant on people who already identified as 'kinky', but not including those who were aroused by certain kinks, but did not act on them.

The main focus of the Kink Orientation Scale was to close the gap between those who are completely comfortable with their sexual interest and those who are afraid to act on them altogether, hoping to encourage more inclusive sex studies in the future.

Five facets of kink engagement are rated in the test: communication, community, identity, paraphernalia and practices.

After you complete the 18-question quiz, ranking each statement as either strongly disagree, somewhat disagree, neither agree nor disagree, somewhat agree, or strongly agree, you are given a score out of 90.

The 90-point scale indicates that 90 is the highest kink engagement, and you are given a general overview of how kinky you are based on your answers.

The quiz was originally longer, but after rounds of development, the survey was reduced to just the 18 questions while still exploring the spectrum of kinks and human sexuality.
