A woman has sparked debate after she realised that we don’t all shower the same way. I’ll be honest with you, I pretty much assumed it was a universal thing - but turns out it's not.

Alexandra Lee, 29, only discovered that people don’t all shower in the same direction after speaking to her mum and took to TikTok to ask people what was the ‘normal’ way to shower.

In the clip shared on her account @alittlebitlovey, Lee - from the US - explained: “I’ve just been informed by mum that there are two ways people shower and we just realised that we both do the opposite things.

“When I shower, the shower head is behind me, so the water is on my hair and down my back, of course, I’ll turn around occasionally and move around.

“But she showers, primarily, facing the shower head, so the water hits her in the face and down the body.

“And she’s shocked that I do the opposite and I’m shocked that she does the opposite. I feel like the normal way to shower is with the shower head behind you and you're facing that way. Is anyone else surprised by this?”

Alexandra Lee sparked debate on TikTok.

Lee then goes on to explain that she only made the discovery because her bathroom is being redone and she asked her mum for advice on the remodel.

Sharing the clip, she asked: "Now I need to know, what is the normal way to shower?"

The clip has since racked up more than five million views and sparked a lively debate.

Agreeing with Lee a fellow TikTok commented: “Back to the water, rotate when needed. There is no other way that makes sense.”

A second said: “No, because voluntarily getting waterboarded doesn’t sound fun at all.”

Someone else wrote: “I cannot believe there are voluntary water facers. I only turn around and face the water when necessary.”

However, others thought her mum was correct, with one person saying: “Who DOESN’T face the water?”

Another wrote: “I face the water. But it’s not like we stand there with it blasting our faces.”

While a third noted: “In movies people are always facing the water so that’s correct.”

But to stir things up further, one woman chipped in: "I constantly move around like a rotisserie chicken! Equal time on both sides.”

And adding to the madness, another said: “I use the detachable and hose myself off like I’m on fire. Ain’t a spot water don’t hit.”
