Expert reveals whether 100 men could beat one gorilla in a fight after viral debate

Perhaps we'll see Gerard Butler in another epic adaptation of this battle for the ages?

Over the years we've had some pretty interesting fights on our screens: Batman vs Superman, Godzilla vs Kong, Alien vs Predator, Freddie vs Jason.

But none of them are more interesting, and frankly weird, than the latest fight prediction to go viral: who would win a fight between 100 men and a gorilla.

While it's obvious that a single gorilla could wipe the floor with a single man, what happens when you throw 99 more men into the mix?

That's what experts, YouTubers, and random dudes on the internet are trying to work out.

Not only are social media users discussing the theoretical fight, many of them have even starting chipping in with pros and cons for both species involved in the fight.

While one Reddit user predicted a human victory, others weren't so sure, with another responding: "A gorilla wouldn't need to fight 100 men.

"It would need to brutally murder maybe 5 to 10 of them, the rest would steer plenty clear after solidly p*ssing their pants."

Why is the internet obsessed with this fight?

It all started after X user @DreamChasnMike posted his theory that 100 'dedicated' people could take on a gorilla.

But it didn't take long before it started to get out of hand. First MrBeast joined in the conversation, calling for 100 men to sign up to test the theory and see if they could take on the powerful animal.

Then before long, of course Elon Musk had to get involved, saying he would be willing to join the fight.

Who would win if 100 men fought one gorilla?

The chances are, no one's ever going to let us test who would win the fight, and PETA would have something to say about it if they did.

Instead, we've got to leave it down to the experts to give their opinion on who would win this epic fight.

Wildlife biologist Kaleb (@cowboyKal3b) from Texas has joined the conversation, offering us some expert insights into the theoretical (unless MrBeast has his way) fight.

Talking about the sheer weight and size of a silverback gorilla, he says: "On average a male silverback weighs in at around 300-400 pounds, (largest ever almost 600) still massive, and is probably around 4-5 times stronger than the average man who works out, so we are definitely taking casualties, but this isn’t enough to just rip apart every man."

He added that he reckoned it would only take 30-40 men to defeat the average silverback gorilla, and that in the natural world a gorilla would flee from such a larger group of aggressors rather than get stuck in to fight them.

He also flagged that the gorilla would likely tire quicker than it's 100 opponents, not only because it was vastly outnumbered, but because evolutionarily humans have 'maxed out our cardio endurance in exchange for the strength'.

And if you happen to be on the humans' side if such a scenario were to occur, he recommends focusing on the 'face/neck/internal organs/groin, and rupturing a vital artery'.

Of course it wouldn't be 2025 unless someone had posed the question to ChatGPT as well.

Here's what AI had to say on the matter: “Think of it more like a mob trying to bring down a rampaging tank with their bare hands.”

As it stands, the theory is that 100 men could indeed take on a silverback gorilla.

But, the biggest threat to the humans would be themselves. It's almost certain there would be human fatalities and serious injuries, which many believe would cause most of the humans to flee in fear.

While I did take my journalistic work extremely seriously and ask my editor for a gorilla (you know, to be thorough with my research), they said no. So in the meantime, here's a simulation of what the fight might look like.

As you can see, in this scenario it looks like the gorilla wins.
