Nostradamus' worrying prediction for 2025 that would mean we don't have long left to live

It's not good news, but when do these mystics ever make cheery predictions?

When he wasn't making predictions about major events such as the Great Fire of London, the death of Princess Diana and nuclear weapons, it seems Nostradamus was busy thinking about the year 2025.

More specifically, what he believed would happen in the year.

And, surprise, surprise, the infamous French astrologer supposedly predicted a healthy dose of doom and gloom for humanity. Which would be worrying, but then again, when do mystics ever look to the future and see positive events?

If you were hoping the final half of the year to bring you some good fortune then I'm afraid you're in the wrong place as Nostradamus didn't have high hopes for 2025.

Who was Nostradamus?

You're likely more than familiar with the name Nostradamus - or Michel de Nostredame as he was known to friends back in the 16th century - a French astrologer, apothecary, and physician who lived between the years of 1503 and 1566.

So, why does he have a reputation for predicting events which occurred hundreds of years after his death?

Well, that's all down to a book of his called Les Prophéties, which contains 942 poems, each claiming to predict the future.

What did Nostradamus predict for 2025?

Nostradamus supposedly made a number of predictions about our good year 2025 in Les Prophéties, which include more conflict in global politics, an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the rise of Aquaman and disaster in the Amazon.

However, it would appear the astrologer believed some more worrying events may be in store for us, as he predicted the plague would return to England's shores with the following: "The kingdom will be marked by wars so cruel / Foes from within and without will arise / A great pestilence from the past returns / No enemy more deadly under the skies."

This wasn't the only grim prediction, as it would appear Nostradamus believed this to be the final year that humans will exist on Earth, suggested in the following poem: "From the cosmos, a fireball will rise / A harbinger of fate, the world pleads / Science and fate in a cosmic dance / The fate of the Earth, a second chance."

Flowery writing aside, it would appear that Nostradamus predicted some sort of comet or extraterrestrial object colliding with Earth while we all look on in horror and pray for a second chance.

What has Nostradamus previously got correct?

The main reason Nostradamus has gained the reputation of being the final boss of all clairvoyants is that a number of major historical events are reported to have been referenced in Les Prophéties.

Famous prophecies which have been attributed to Nostradamus include:

  • The French Revolution: "Songs, chants, and demands will come from the enslaved / Held captive by the nobility in their prisons."
  • Adolf Hitler: "From the depths of the West of Europe / A young child will be born of poor people / He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop / His fame will increase towards the realm of the East."
  • 9/11 attacks: "The sky will burn at forty-five degrees / Fire approaches the great new city / By fire, he will destroy their city / A cold and cruel heart, blood will pour / Mercy to none."

However, I'd urge you to take these with a pinch of salt as several verses are pretty vague at best, take this one for example: "The ancient task will be completed / From on high, evil will fall on the great man / A dead innocent will be accused of the deed / The guilty will remain in the mist."

Now, it may sound like some gibberish AI prompt or the still your uncle says after one too many drinks at Christmas, but it's the poem which has been attributed to predicting the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

So will the plague descend on the UK in the next six months before a fiery comet finishes the rest of us off? Maybe, but also maybe not.

However, I wouldn't stress too much, because if the world humanity does end then you don't have to worry about FOMO.
