Passenger on nude cruise with 2,000 guests reveals strict rule everyone had to follow

There's a few rules passengers must adhere to

A nudist cruiser explained some of the rules they had to follow when onboard a nude cruise, including one very strict one.

In their lengthy post from Reddit earlier this year, the passenger provided an in-depth breakdown of the naked cruise experience, having hopped on a 2,000-guest Norwegian Cruise Line Pearl.

Bare Necessities, a nudist travel company, offers an immersive experience, promising its 2,300 travellers a 'bare-dise' of amazing locations, including Great Stirrup Cay, an island in the Bahamas, as well as St. Lucia and St. Maarten.

However, the concept of a nude cruise is something that many people will likely be interested in, so there were a few things they wanted to know, especially regarding the etiquette surrounding photography - they are on their holidays, after all.

"What are the rules about pictures? Like if you wanna get a selfie there's a bunch of schlongs whirling around in the background, is it OK or is it against some rules?" read their colourful question.

The passenger went on to clarify that the entire swimming pool deck was a 'no photo zone', as was the nightclub and bars.

"Elsewhere it's general nudist etiquette, everyone in the picture needs to agree to be in the picture," they wrote.

According to Bare Necessities, who operate the trip, consent is vital and there are some 'no photo zones' dotted about. Taking photos in these areas risks your device being confiscated and the pictures being deleted.

While passengers were allowed to be naked more or less the whole time, there were some rules regarding when and where you could be in the buff, however.

Bare Necessities said: "When the ship is at sea or anchored in a port, passengers can be nude unless announcements have been made to the contrary.

"When the ship is docked alongside in port, all passengers must be dressed throughout the vessel, including balconies, until the ship leaves port and an announcement is made that nudity is again permissible."

As for when it came to eating onboard, some restaurants inside the vessel had their own rules about nudity, as while the self-serving buffet was a free-for-all, the dining area required casual clothing, something which the passenger also pointed out.

The Redditor further wrote: "The buffet was clothing optional, with most guests [wearing something] from the waist down."

Of course, with the talk of nudity, many might jump to the belief that these are in the same vein as a 'spicy cruise'; however, this one involves no tom-foolery; in fact, ‘overt sexual activity’ is strictly prohibited.

And that perception is something Rachel Wick, who organises the UK's sole nude cruise, wants to challenge.

She told The Sun: "It’s really sad that a large percentage of the population equate being naked only with sex - it’s not.

“If they came to our event, they would see it’s clearly not what it’s about."

In regards to their strict rules, she said that anyone misbehaving is immediately 'on our banned list', though luckily has rarely happened.

She added: "But we’re always mindful that this has to be a safe environment because you can feel quite vulnerable when you haven’t got your clothes on."
