A woman ended up going from a couple to a throuple after her work colleague confessed that she was in love with them.
Clinical psychologist Dr Nicole LePera admitted to Annie McManus on the Changes podcast that she was 'terrified' when colleague Jenna Weakland said she had feelings for her and her wife Lolly.
Dr LePera had been with her wife for seven years at that point and none of them had experience in a non-monogamous relationship.

However, she has now advocated for how positive their relationship is and Weakland recently posted to say there are 'so many perks to having a life partnership with more than one human'.
"More than a throuple, we are a family, best friends - a team. I love building life with you angels," Weakland wrote on her Instagram page.
Speaking on the podcast, Dr LePera explained what happened to turn a couple into a throuple and how it was the introduction to a polyamorous relationship for all of them.

She said: "Jenna sat us both down, at separate times, and said she was having romantic feelings for both of us.
"Never once had we talked about it, never once had I even really heard much about, you know, a more plural, or multiple type relationship."
Dr LePera announced the change in her relationship last August, posting that: "It’s expanded me spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. It’s been raw. Terrifying.
"Filled with joy. Filled with tears. Filled with laughs. Filled with so much humbling learning about myself and what it is to be in authentic relationship."

More and more couples are welcoming a third partner into the relationship, or perhaps just being more open about it.
There have been some celebrity examples with the likes of David Haye being open about his relationship, while many other people have also adopted the throuple model for their own relationships.
Sometimes the couples just meet someone else where they all develop feelings for one another whether that be down their local gym or with someone they met on holiday.

Some throuples even formed after meeting for a one night stand on Tinder, proving that there's no one path to people's love and happiness.
Other throuples have said that while it's challenging to maintain the 'delicate balance' of their lives together what they really have to struggle with is 'envious' people who don't like their relationship arrangement because they're just jealous.
