A woman once thought to be the 'world's oldest virgin' explained why she made the decision to go her whole life without sex.
Being celibate for a few years, like Khloé Kardashian and Lana Rhoades, are just rookie numbers compared to the long-term commitment of Clara Meadmore.
It seems the Glasgow-born woman had more important things to do during her 108 years of existence.
Clara, who passed away in 2011, managed to live through two world wars as a housekeeper, a secretary, and even served in the army when she was stationed in Egypt.

She ended up retiring in Cornwall in the 1960s, but remained independent until deciding to join a nursing home at 104.
On her 105th birthday, Clara credited her longevity to lots of walking, the odd glass of wine and not having sex.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2008, she explained that, throughout her life, people would ask her if she was gay.
"People have asked me whether I am homosexual and the answer is no. I have just never been interested in sex," she said.

"I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things."
Clara said she also had a lot of friends growing up, but they didn't become anything more than that.
"I grew up in an era where little girls were to be seen and not heard, so I had to stand up for myself and earn a living," she was also quoted as saying, according to the Mail Online.
"I've had lots of platonic friendships with men but never felt the need to go further," Clara added.

Her best mate Josie joked: "You're as young as you feel. Clara is by no means 105 in many ways. Maybe never having a man under her feet has kept her young all these years."

Apparently, at the tender age of 12, Clara already knew that marriage wasn't for her.
"Everything seems so fast these days. I don't know a lot about young people or the way they do things," she said.
"I'm sure it's very different.
"I made my mind up at the age of 12 never to marry and I've not gone back on that.
"[...] People have their own views on sex, but I was never interested in it. I just never met anyone I wanted to marry, and I’ve always been happy alone."
