1899: Release Date, Trailer, And Cast

1899 is one of the most hotly anticipated upcoming TV series. The period drama will be available on Netflix and follows the story of a group of immigrants who leave London on a steamship in search of a new life in New York City. However, whilst making its voyage across the Atlantic, the steamship encounters another migrant ship and the journey takes a dark turn.

1899 is a German series but will include dialogue in a multitude of languages, including English and Cantonese, and will be accessible to speakers of many different dialects.

Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, creators of the German series Dark which ran for three seasons between 2017 and 2020, are behind the making of 1899. The first season of the show will have eight episodes, with the first entitled ‘The Ship’.
