A US Navy veteran, who went into the adult film industry three years ago, says she is now having to do sex work to make ends meet.
Addyson James served in the military from 1998 to 2003 and was approached three times to pursue a career in porn.
The 46-year-old from Canada recalled: “The stealth bombers were flying in. We were putting bombs on them and launching those planes out, and they were dropping bombs on Afghanistan.”
In 2022, she agreed to shoot X-rated content, but is now homeless because she can't pay the bills.

Addyson explained to The Sun: “While I was in the Navy, I always loved to do photoshoots.
“When I was in California, I shot with some photographers just for my own thing, and I remember saying when I was younger, one day I’m going to be in Playboy.

“I became a swinger 15 years ago, so I was pretty open sexually.”
The adult star said she 'hesitated a little bit' at first, but was equally not 'afraid of porn'.
“I said, you know what, I’m ready to do this. I was not against sex. I was not against any of those things,” Addyson explained.
“And at that point in my life, I had had some things happen, and I said, ‘You know what? Why not?’. Whatever happens, happens.
“It could be a one-and-done, and nothing comes of it, or it could turn into something wonderful.”
However, three years in, she says the hidden costs of being a porn star have caught up with her.

While one scene might pay her $1,200, she has to go for STI testing every week, which costs $300 each time. 15 percent of her income also goes on agent fees.
“Then summer hits, and I went from five to seven scenes a month to zero scenes for over two months,” Addyson - who now lives in a legal brothel - said.
“So during this period, I stayed with some friends.”
After doing some research, she thought that sex work is the 'best thing I can do for supplemental income and it will give me a place to stay'.
“So that’s why I decided to come here, which has been a huge blessing. I am confident of turning this around,” she said.
“I suspect in the next month or so I’ll have enough money to do all the things I need to do and get back on my feet.”
Busting myths around how rich being an adult star can make you, she explained: "There are one percent of people who are on OnlyFans who shoot porn that actually make a lot of money and the common misconception is, if they see us on camera they think, ‘Oh, I thought they made $10,000 a scene’.
“Most people don’t even make $10,000 a year shooting porn.”
