Bryan Cranston explains why he's playing Walter White again

Breaking Bad's Walter White will return to the small screen later this month, with Bryan Cranston reprising his iconic role

Almost ten years after he first wore the famous bald cap, Bryan Cranston is returning to the small screen as Walter White. Take a look for yourself:

The 66-year-old actor played the character of a timid chemistry teacher who turned into a drug kingpin after being diagnosed with terminal cancer in the iconic Breaking Bad.

Airing from 2008 onwards, the US series was a major hit with viewers on both sides of the Atlantic.

Now appearing in tense legal drama Your Honour, in which he plays a tormented judge, Cranston took time out to revisit his previous under strict secrecy.

It’s not the first time though that Cranston has revisited the role.

He also appeared in two episodes of spin-off series Better Call Saul, which served as both a prequel and sequel to Breaking Bad.

However, fans will now get the chance to see him to the infamous pork pie hat again as their favourite crystal meth-cooking chemistry teacher in a special Super Bowl ad.

Alongside his co-star Aaron Paul, they will recreate a scene from fan favourite episode ‘4 Days Out’ and teasers for the advert have already beginning to circulate online.

He told Digital Spy: “I went back as Walter White in the series Better Call Saul because it was appropriate, and I thought it would be fun to go back and see all the people and to wear those shoes and those glasses and the bald cap again,”

“I was like, ‘yeah, I’ll do that'. And then now we have a Super Bowl commercial for PopCorners, and it was so much fun to do,” he continued, explaining how he loved playing a less serious version of the character.

“Instead of crystal meth, we’re baking these PopCorners [in the RV], and you know – it’s a very tasty snack,” he joked.

With his reprisal of one iconic character, fans are now wondering whether the Emmy winning actor would ever revisit his beloved Malcolm In The Middle role.

In the early noughties, Cranston played long suffering dad Hal in the comedy series which ran for 151 episodes.

“You know there is that saying, ‘never say never’? Right now in my position I would consider anything,” he said, before adding: “I’m open to hearing anything. So who knows?”

Whilst Cranston has been reluctant to confirm whether he’d return as Hal, he has revealed some secrets from the Breaking Bad set.

During an interview with Hot Ones, he recalled that Aaron Paul excessively ate the fake meth in a desperate bid to stay awake during a late shoot.

Whilst the fake meth is just blue tinted rock candy, Cranston was still told off his co-star for eating the ‘product’.

“I never tasted it until one night, we were working, it was probably the 16th or 17th hour, we’re working in our dungeon downstairs, our lab, and Gus Fring is making sure we’re working,” Cranston explained.

“I see Aaron Paul reach into our product and he starts throwing the methamphetamine in his mouth. I go, ‘What are you doing? You can’t eat the product'.” he laughed.

Despite this, Cranston soon joined in and told viewers that it was 'pretty good'.
