Channel 4 has a brand-new quiz show out this Sunday (1 November) that’s currently shrouded in mystery and speculation.
Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the broadcaster has just announced new details about Million Pound Shot that make it a bit of a first for British TV.
And this comes as social media users had started suspecting the show is actually a ‘massive hoax’.

Promised to be a ‘nail-biting brand-new one-off quiz event’, it sees three plucky contestants taking the chance to win up to a mega £1 million.
But setting it apart from other shows on the telly, Channel 4 has now announced that the contestants will be risking their own money in their hopes to bag the win. While other twists are teased, that could solve some of the mystery that’s been spiralling around Million Pound Shot.
Channel 4 explains that contestants will bring their own bank cards to play, seen entering them into machines at their stands in the trailer.
They will then bet cash according to how confident they are in their answers to the general knowledge quiz questions.
“Each question will give them the chance to win Bet Balls with a monetary value, which they will have the option to either cash out, or risk, by firing them into the Million Pound Shot Machine to attempt to win £1 million,” Channel 4 explains.
But the whole ‘using their own money’ thing isn’t the only surprise in store, apparently there’s ‘more twists to unfold throughout’.

Walsh himself says when he heard about the format he thought it was ‘one of the most original and surprising quiz shows’ he’d ever encountered.
He adds that contestants will need to be ‘willing to take big risks’ and back themselves until the end in order to win.
“This is not a game for the faint-hearted,” the host says. “This game is all about confidence and bravado. Putting your money where your mouth is will not be simple when it’s your own cold hard cash.”
With the game ‘always’ in the contestants’ control, Million Pound Shot is apparently going to be ‘bursting with tension, big moments and huge curveballs’.
Interesting…

‘Massive hoax’
There had been a fair bit of speculation on social media that this whole show is a ‘hoax’ as people simply didn’t believe it’s real.
With the details of contestants using their own cash only just revealed this evening, users were suspicious about how much is ‘being kept incredibly under wraps’.
“The fact it's Bradley Walsh on Channel 4 when he's the ultimate ITV man, the completely vague and generic title, the 'huge secret twist', and the fact it's a one-off 'event' airing on a Sunday night all make me think there's something else going on and it's not going to be,” one user wrote as people speculate it’s some kind of stunt.
Well, I guess we'll have to wait until Sunday now to see what actually happens on the show.
Bradley Walsh’s Million Pound Shot will be available to watch and stream on Channel 4 at 9pm, Sunday 1 November
