It's not always easy being an actor

The life of an actor isn't always about fame and fortune, as it can often mean doing things most of us wouldn't dream of.

While the idea of kissing handsome co-stars and beautiful leading ladies is probably a teenager's dream, actors also have to often kiss people they might not want to.

That iconic kiss in Spider-Man didn't look comfortable at all, with Kirsten Dunst describing it as 'miserable', while Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams famously didn't get along before their passionate smooch in The Notebook.

While sex scenes take things up another notch, Emily Blunt was left feeling a little nauseous after a mere snog with one of her co-stars, suggesting during an interview on The Howard Stern Show.she 'absolutely' wanted to throw up once.

Stern is known for his straight-to-the-point line of questioning, and he asked Emily if she had ever wanted to 'throw up' after a kissing scene.

She said: "Absolutely, absolutely!"

"I wouldn’t say it’s sort of extreme loathing, but I’ve definitely not enjoyed some of it," she revealed.

While she didn't reveal exactly who the lucky, or unlucky, co-star was in this case, you'd hope that it wasn't during the filming of A Quiet Place, where she stars alongside her real-life husband John Krasinski, otherwise that would've made their home life very quiet indeed.

Blunt also shared that she had 'chemistry with people I haven’t liked at all', and that interaction and attraction was 'sometimes a strange thing.'

“Sometimes you can really, really like someone, and you can be pals, and you can have a rapport that’s really effortless, but it doesn’t translate onscreen," she explained.

She revealed her tactic for getting by on set: “I think my feeling is I’ve got to find something I love about everybody. I have to find something – even if it’s one thing. It might be like they have a nice laugh or I like how they speak to people, they’re polite. I mean, it might be something random.

"But find something you love about that person or something you love about them as the character and then kind of lean into that," she advised.

As for this mysterious chemistry or spark, the star said it is an 'ethereal thing that you can’t really bottle up and buy or sell.'

She joked though: “I’ve been doing this long enough. I could have chemistry with this water bottle at this point. You know how to conjure it. But it’s just easier when you have a natural rapport with someone.”

The 42-year-old, who also plays Mary Poppins, may well have needed an extra spoonful of sugar after that fateful moment with a co-star to help dispel any nausea.

Still, at least she didn't have to kiss an actor who played her younger sibling for many years, as Kit Harrington and Sophie Turner ended up doing recently.
