Conspiracy theorists are at it again after claiming something is ‘definitely wrong’ with the Blue Origin space mission.

As I'm sure you've heard, Blue Origin launched its first female crew into suborbital space since 1963 earlier this week (14 April).

Singer Katy Perry was joined by journalist Gayle King, Jeff Bezos' fiancée and journalist Lauren Sánchez, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, researcher Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

Blue Origin's NS-31 mission aboard the New Shepard rocket lasted 10 minutes and 21 seconds, reaching over 60 miles above Earth, crossing the Kármán line before safely returning to Texas.

While some were inspired by the trip, others couldn't help but think how random it was.

And conspiracy theorists have had a field day, from calling the whole thing 'Hollywood fake' and created by CGI, to it having a phony hatch opening.

Now, over on X, one user thought they spotted 'a fake hand' onboard the New Shepard capsule.

Alongside a couple of screenshots, @MJTruthUltra wrote: "Something is definitely wrong with the Blue Origin 'Space Flight'… that Katy Perry was on.

"Social media users are asking, where are the re-entry burn marks? And why does that look like a fake hand?

"Lol this world is so crazy."

However, it seems the picture shown in the tweet was actually of a New Shepard Capsule test flight in 2017, not the mission Perry was on.

As reported by the Daily Mail, there was a mannequin on board that flight, given that it was a test mission.

Amid the sceptics, on her return to Earth, Perry kissed the floor and appeared to be very grateful for the experience, which saw her sing Louis Armstrong’s 'What A Wonderful World' up in space.

“I feel super connected to love, so connected to love,” she said.

“I think this experience has shown me you never know how much love is inside of you, like how much love you have to give and how loved you are until the day you launch.”

Perry - who also held a flower in the air as she returned from her Blue Origin trip - explained that it was a tribute to her daughter Daisy Bloom.

She added: “Daisies are common flowers, but they grow through any condition, they go through cement, they go through cracks, they go through walls, they are resilient.

“They are powerful, they are strong, they are everywhere.

“Flowers are to me, god’s smile, but it’s also a reminder of our beautiful Earth and the flowers here, and god’s smile and the beautiful magic that is everywhere, all around us and even in a simple daisy.

“So to really appreciate it and remember it and take care of it, protect it.”
