Kristen Stewart's 'top priority' after wrapping up her directorial debut wasn't reconsidering scenes which were left on the cutting room floor.
Instead, she had much more pressing matters to deal with - finding a female tattooist who could ink her up, pronto.
Stewart debuted this new artwork while celebrating the premiere of her flick, The Chronology of Water, at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival last Friday (16 May).

Although having the words 'MINE' inked across her lower thigh, just above the knee, might seem pretty tame to some people, it turns out that the meaning behind it is pretty wild.
And it's in tribute to her film The Chronology of Water, which is an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch's 2011 memoir of the same name.
It received a six-and-a-half-minute standing ovation last week in Cannes last week, which is certainly a good start for Stewart's maiden voyage in the director's seat.
Starring Brit actress Imogen Poots, the film explores how the Olympic swimming hopeful flees her abusive home thanks to a scholarship, only to fall into addiction - but she manages to find solace in her studies and literature.
It's a story which explores identity, sexuality, art and trauma... and a tale which also inspired Stewart's new tattoo.

So, how on earth does a simple four letter word like 'MINE' have such an X-rated hidden meaning?
Well, according to Stewart, the inking was inspired by a particularly risqué scene in The Chronology of Water, which is underscored by a song which repeats the word.
The 35-year-old reckons it's the 'coolest song' which features in the film, which prompted her to get it permanently emblazoned on her skin.
Speaking to Vulture about her new tattoo, she explained that she sat down for it the day before she hopped on the plane for Cannes.

Stewart said: "I was running ragged, we had just finished the movie, and I was like, 'No matter what, top priority, find a woman who can give us three tattoos today!'
"The crew is going to get this one," she added, in reference to the 'MINE' inking.
She then went on to explain the significance of it - which is NSFW, to say the least.
Stewart said: "The coolest song in the movie is when she c*ms on her hand, smells it, wipes it on her f***ing bicep, and goes, 'I didn’t know a girl body could do that. Shoot c*m.'
"And then this song comes on and it goes, 'Mine, mine, mine, mine'. And it’s just f***ing mine."

Stewart also revealed that she also got the word 'WHY' tattooed on her upper arm, which was inspired by The Chronology of Water too.
Discussing the flick's relation to the tatt, she continued: "[The film] is not the three-act success story that, as audiences, we’ve been trained to want.
"It’s like, 'Aren’t we supposed to be happy now? Jesus Christ, you’ve dragged me through hell'. It’s like a female orgasm. It’s like, 'Almost, almost, almost. Stick with me, stick with me, stick with me!'
"I don’t think the movie is long. It’s two hours and eight minutes, with a killer credit sequence that you have to see til the last frame to finish the movie. But it’s a serious f***ing movie. We deserve to take up space.

"I didn’t need to make an hour and a half digestible experience so it would be less difficult for the consumer. It’s cool that at one point you go, 'Are we still doing this? Why?'
"I have 'Why' tattooed right here."
We will keep you updated in case Stewart goes the whole hog and adds 'who, what, when, where and how' to her collection of body art.
