Woman had no idea she was chatting up Martin Lewis when filming herself using incredible pick-up line

It seems she doesn't even realise just how iconic the line is on him

Martin Lewis has been left in disbelief after discovering footage of a viral moment including him online as a woman had no idea who he was.

Usually when we see Mr Money Man himself on social media, he’s delivering us lines and comments on how best to manage our finances, check up on our holidays and look after our energy bills.

But in this case, a woman was serving up a line to him. No, not that kind of line, an incredible chat up line.

And it led to Lewis’ reaction unfolding on Facebook as he was left amazed by the initial interaction before finding out it had gone viral on TikTok.

He explained earlier this month that he’d been working in a café when a woman walked up and said: “Are you a bank, because you've got my interest!"

Nico Slater then simply walked away with the MoneySavingExpert boss ‘trying to pretend to myself it wasn't because she knew who I was, but because I still got it’.

And it turns out, she actually didn't as she told LADbible she had 'no idea'.

In the video, she approaches a number of lads and blokes in London and serves up the chat up line to mixed responses.

But the comments are unsurprisingly fixated on the fact that Lewis appears in the video.

“Not you chatting up Martin Lewis with a ‘bank loan’ line,” one pointed out as another said: “What are the odds that you chat up Martin Lewis with that line.”

Slater said she remembered walking away 'thinking he looked familiar' but 'couldn’t quite place where I’d seen him before'.

She added: "I just saw him working intently on his laptop and thought I’d drop one of my corny pickup lines to hopefully make him smile!! It’s something I do as part of rejection therapy and my general mission to spread a bit of positivity when I’m out and about."

When Lewis saw the video himself, it seems he was equally shocked as he wrote earlier on Thursday (29 May): “Unbelievable! She filmed it! I've just been sent a link to her TikTok, as someone spotted it, and couldn't believe it was me.”

He continued: “The funniest thing is I don't think she knew who I was, just the comedy stars aligning... or I still got it!!”

The expert did go on to point out that ‘legally it is far safer’ and more ‘ethical’ to get a person’s consent to share something like this but on this occasion, he’ll ‘ignore’ that.

Users joked to Lewis: “I could see you fighting the urge to tell her the top 5 ISA accounts in terms of customer service and % interest.”

As another said: “Fantastic! She had no idea who you were but perfect person to say that to!”

Of course, while it might have been an incredible line to use on him (even unknowingly), Lewis has been married to his wife Lara Lewington since 2009.
