Maya Jama responds to rumours that she's back with Stormzy after eagle-eyed fans spotted detail
Maya Jama has shot down rumours that she has reunited with her ex Stormzy after she was seen singing along to one of his songs.
In case you missed it, earlier today, Maya sent the rumour mill into overdrive after she shared a clip of herself singing along to Stomzy’s hit One Second.
In the video, Maya could be seen sat in a car with her headphones in while miming along to the lyrics: “I could tell you stories ’bout my life.
“I’ve seen hope and I’ve seen struggle through these eyes. So give me just one second of your time.”

Eagle-eyed fans also spotted that the Love Island host had begun following her ex on Instagram again and there were plenty of people online who were convinced it was a sign that the couple had reconciled.
However, Maya has now poured cold water on the rumours and has urged her fans to ‘rest with the theories’.
Sharing an X post of her clip shared by another account, she wrote: “🤣🤣 I like the song. We have always been friends. No one is back together, rest with the theories ❤️🙏🏽.”
The couple have a long history together, first getting together back in 2015 when Maya was just 20 and Stormzy was 21.
In an interview with Vogue, Maya admitted that she’d had a crush on the rapper from the get-go but the two started out as pals.
“You know, if I’m really honest, I knew I fancied him from the start. But I didn’t want anything yet, because you know, you’re trying to do the whole friend situation at first,” she confessed.
“And then I’d do, like, obvious hints that I fancied him and then take it back because I didn’t know if he definitely liked me. It was a childish phase. Then one day we just kissed and that was that!”
But in 2019, the couple shocked their fans by announcing that they were going their separate ways.
The following year, Stormzy opened up about the split, saying: “I’ve never loved anyone how I’ve loved her… I would love to be the man who she needs, I would love to do all the things that make this work. I want to marry her.”
Fast-forward to 2023, and fans were delighted when the couple were snapped on holiday together sparking speculation that they were back together.
The couple then confirmed that they were giving things another go and it appeared to be getting serious with rumours that they could be considering an engagement.
However, in July 2024 they announced that they’d split for good.
In a joint statement, they said: “We decided to try for the final time in August 2023, and we've spent this past year trying our best to make it work; however, we recently decided to call it quits.
"We were 21 and 20 when we first met-both at the beginning of our careers-and spent five years growing together and then five years growing separately, so this final attempt required a whole lot of figuring out, relearning, and unlearning. We tried, and it didn't work, and that's okay."
