Miley Cyrus reveals lie she told ex-husband Liam Hemsworth for 10 years about her virginity

Miley Cyrus revealed that she lied for more than a decade to her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth when it came to how she lost her virginity.

Former child actor and singer Cyrus was a teenager when she first crossed paths with Hemsworth, after being cast as leads in the 2010 romance film The Lost Song.

While the film itself failed to impress critics, sitting at 22 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, The Last Song was the start of a love story between Cyrus and Hemsworth.

Her early relationship with Hemsworth is a topic which Cyrus hasn't shied away from discussing, with the 33-year-old previously dishing the details on her first intimate encounter with The Witcher actor during an interview on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast.

During the interview, the 'Flowers' singer explained that her first hookups had been with girls and that she 'didn't go all the way with a dude' until the age of 16.

"I ended up marrying the guy, so that’s pretty crazy," she explained, referencing the pair's short-lived marriage.

But while Cyrus may be comfortable with being open and honest now, it would appear she hasn't always been this way, revealing that she'd initially lied to Hemsworth about losing her virginity to him.

Concerned that he would think of her as a 'loser', Cyrus pretended that she'd already lost her virginity to someone else - a move which ended up backfiring spectacularly.

“I couldn’t think of anyone so I just made somebody up that I knew but we’d never actually had sex before,” she said.

Her secret would remain safe for nearly 10 more years until Hemsworth's friend ended up marrying the man she claimed to have lost her virginity to, meaning the jig was up.

"[Hemsworth] was like, ‘Now my friend is marrying someone you’ve hooked up with'," Cyrus recalled. "So then - when I was like 24 - I had to say that I lied when I was 16.”

Cyrus didn't reveal how Hemsworth reacted to the news, however it can't have been too much of a big deal for the actor as the pair went on to get married in December 2018, two years after rekindling their romance.

The couple would remain married until August 2019, when Hemsworth filed for divorce.

Cyrus has since moved on with musician Maxx Morando, whom she has been dating since 2021, while Hemsworth is currently engaged to model Gabriella Brooks.
