Back in 2011, Al-Qaeda founder and leader Osama Bin Laden was found and killed following a tense and highly confidential mission by the US.

American Navy SEALs raided a compound near Islamabad, before shooting him dead, following a ten-year manhunt.

President Barack Obama announced the news of Bin Laden's successful assassination live on TV shortly after. However, many people were very confused when actor and wrestler The Rock hinted at the news on Twitter before the president made the reveal.

Quite how The Rock, a.k.a Dwayne Johnson, had the information prior to the president revealing all has never been shared until now.

The Moana star shared all about his goof with Hollywood Reporter.

The journalist said they had a tweet to show him from May 2, 2011, and Dwayne joked: "Oh my God, this is not good."

He confessed: “I’ve got a friend of a friend who gave me a call. The call was like, ‘Hey, this thing happened.’ And I said, ‘Okay, wonderful news.’ I was told on the call that the president at that time [Barack Obama] was going to make his speech in 20 minutes or whatever.

"I said, 'Okay, great'. So 20 minutes go by, and at about the 25th minute, I tweet this..."

He posted: "Just got word that will shock the world - Land of the free...home of the brave DAMN PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!"

It was then that The Rock realised his error: "Then I get a second call, and the call is, ‘Yeah, the president didn’t go on yet.’ And I went, 'Oh s**t'.”

Fellow wrestling star also announced the news to the crowd at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view in Tampa, Florida.

The Rock was also asked if he would consider running for office in the future, but dodged the question.

People are still replying to his tweet, all this time later.

One person wrote: "Super weird to me that this doesn’t have like 100,000 rts," while another agreed: "Man it’s wild that this has <1k retweets. 2011 twitter was weird."

"People joke but they ignore the fact that The Rock somehow knew Bin Laden died minutes before the rest of the country did," quizzed one fan.

"Confirmed. The Rock is the deep state. Kidding. Seriously though how did you know before almost everyone else?" joked another.

"Imagine the numbers this would've done if it happened now," wrote one X user.

In 2015, someone asked "Can you tell us how you knew?"... ten years later, they finally have the answer.
