Stephen Graham opened up on 'very scary' emergency operation he had to have mid-flight after medical episode

The Adolescence star admitted to having a 'slight panic attack' during his nightmare plane journey

Stephen Graham recently spoke about the 'very scary' time when he ended up getting an emergency procedure done while on a flight to the US - and be warned the story is not for the faint-hearted.

The star of Peaky Blinders, This Is England, A Thousand Blows and many more was just recently on Late Night With Seth Myers.

Welcoming the celebrated actor onto his show, Myers said he hoped Graham's flight was 'easier than the last one'.

For those wondering why the TV show host would ask such a thing, it turns out the Adolescence star had 'a hell of an experience' the last time he was flying over to the US.

Graham explained that once a gentleman goes beyond the age of about 45 'we tend to go to toilet quite a lot of times' and had a procedure done involving an inserted tube, a 'big load of steam' and after a 'slightly enlarged prostate' which after a few months should result in fewer trips to the loo.

However, last time he was flying over to America about two and a half hours into his flight the actor felt the call of nature, but what should have been a flow of blessed relief was simply not coming.

Faced with the urge to empty his bladder, the actor thought if he got back to his seat and kept drinking water the floodgates would eventually open.

About an hour later he was back in the toilet and 'all of a sudden I went, but it was just pure blood' which he understandably said was 'very scary'.

He said this gave him a 'slight panic attack', which is a very composed reaction to having a stream of 'pure blood' coming out of one's ding-a-ling, then set about cleaning up the mess so as not to disturb the next person using the toilet.

Thankfully, it was about this time, he remembered there was a doctor on board the plane as they'd taken a selfie with him just before boarding the flight, so the cabin crew summoned this doctor.

Even more thankfully, the doctor had a surgeon friend with him who sterilised the area between first class and economy class so this emergency procedure could take place.

He said: "There was no public there, but the staff were there.

"So Claire, who was the stewardess and she was the manager and all their cabin crew were in the room as well.

"They're holding curtains at the exit. And Doctor Hajji asked me would I lower my pants. So I dropped my kecks, I get on the couch, and he performs a catheter operation there and then."

While such procedures are normally done on solid ground it clearly went well as Graham said 'the relief as unbelievable', and his subsequent trip to the toilet was 'one of the finest experiences I've ever had with my member'.
