Scooter Braun called out for 'weird' caption of birthday posts for girlfriend Sydney Sweeney and his mum

Sydney Sweeney's boyfriend Scooter Braun has been roasted for his recent Instagram captions.

Credited with discovering a young Justin Bieber for Raymond-Braun Media Group almost two decades ago, the 45-year-old has likely been busy buying gifts of late, as both Sweeney and his mum Susan share the same birthday (12 September).

However, Braun's innocent public tributes to the two most important women in his life have raised some eyebrows on social media.

Accompanied by a photo of Susan smiling, his birthday message began: "They say date someone who's like your mother and I decided to date someone who shares the exact same birthday as my mother.

"Mom, thank you for being the most selfless person I've ever met and being a light and a true example for all of us."

"I'm so proud to call myself your son. It's not just all of your achievements... It's your heart," continued Braun.

"Thank you for being an incredible Nanna to my children and to all of your grandchildren and here's [to] many more years of fun celebrating you. Shana Tova and Happy birthday! Also I get to drop the boyz to men classic."

As previously mentioned, some users were quick to bite him for this.

"Dumbest first sentence to a birthday post I've ever read," one wrote.

Another added: "What a weird thing to say."

Someone else questioned: "Why say this."

However, others called the post 'lovely' and sent their well wishes to Braun's mother.

Meanwhile, his special post for Sweeney, who he's been dating for around 12 months now, was perhaps more kindly received.

Celebrating the Euphoria and The White Lotus favourite's 29th birthday at the weekend, Braun used a video of them dancing in front of a castle.

"Happy birthday to the woman who is the exception to every rule," he shared.

"The person who surprised me and showed me how life with true partnership can be lived.

"You make me smile harder, laugh louder, adventure more, and dream bigger. You've made the ordinary feel exciting and the future feel like something I can't wait to get to. A giggle can change an entire day. And I love how corny we can be together, because nothing else matters.

"There are a million things I could say, but the ones that matter most are just for you. Happy birthday Syd. Many more celebrations ahead. I love you."

One commenter 'highly' recommended marrying somebody with the same birthday as a parent, before another claimed they were 'crying'.

"This is beautiful, you are full of love, you have a golden soul!" read a third response.
