American Pie star Tara Reid breaks up with boyfriend after romance became 'bad for her'

Tara Reid has split from her boyfriend, Nathan Montpetit-Howar, after six years.

The actor, best known for her role in the American Pie films, was confirmed to have broken up with Montpetit-Howar as sources close to her say that the romance had ‘run its course’.

The split was revealed by the Daily Mail after Reid attended a ‘ARTISA medical grade skincare launch’ in LA over the weekend, her first public outing since the breakup.

Reid starred as Vicky in the American Pie films, with the cult classic American movie catapulting her into stardom in 1999.

This led to roles in films such as Van Wilder alongside Ryan Reynolds, a short stint on Scrubs as JD’s love interest, and the bizarre cult Sharknado films.

Reid has been in a relationship with Montpetit-Howard, a music producer, since at least September 2019.

The actor posted pictures of the pair on Instagram announcing their relationship during a trip to Mexico.

She would go on to bizarrely isolate during lockdown with Montpetit-Howard and Irish Pop duo Jedward, telling Page Six when asked how she was ‘surviving lockdown’: “I have a small apartment it’s not easy. You’re always in each other faces.

"The other guys I'm also quarantining with are my two best friends that I've grown up with… do you know who Jedward is?

“Basically we all met each other on Celebrity Big Brother back in 2011 and basically this is like Big Brother’s coronavirus pandemic.”

In a rare comment about their relationship in 2022, she told InTouch Weekly: “It's going great. It's been really good. We've been on this journey together and it's been wonderful. He's been really helpful. We just took a little road trip, which was fun.

“We're doing good and we're happy and that's the most important thing, you know, we still keep a spark in our relationship and, that's good.”

Now, however, it is confirmed that the pair have split with a friend close to Reid telling the Daily Mail of her appearance at an event over the weekend: “She looked single and ready to mingle… Tara is not crying into her pillow at home. She is in a good place.”

In the past Tara has dated a few familiar faces, including a year-long engagement with TV host Carson Daly.

She has also stated in the past she had an ‘on-and-off’ relationship with Tom Brady.

Continuing to discuss her newly single status, Reid’s friend said in their comments to the Daily Mail: “I’ve not seen her this happy in years and it really shows in her smile, the way she carries herself, her energy, everything about her is just lighter and brighter!

“I’m so proud of her she’s getting Best Actress Awards left and right, she’s producing her own movies, she’s embracing her new energy as a woman who really knows what she wants.

“She’s making great decisions including becoming single and embracing it.”

Reid’s Best Actress awards refer to her new role in a film Dr Quarantine for which she has won three awards so far, including the LA Independent Women Film Awards.
