While Christmas is merry and bright for so many, this time of year can increase family tensions, exaggerate broken bonds, and remind us that not everything is as happy as a standard Hallmark holiday offering.
There are blended families to navigate, new girlfriends, boyfriends, significant others coming into the picture, and sometimes arguments can erupt over board games. Quick, someone hide Monopoly before it’s too late!
This year, David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham held annual Christmas festivities at their idyllic Cotswolds home - but their whole brood failed to make the day.
The pair, who have been married for 28 years, shared Crimbo with their sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper Seven, 14.

Their holiday bash was also attended by Romeo’s girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, 29, and David and Victoria's families.
However, eldest son Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, were notably missing from the big day.
In their absence, the famous family whipped up cocktails. The former Manchester United icon was snapped decorating the tree while Romeo whipped up a ‘lil Christmas Eve lemon drizzle’ loaf cake, as seen on social media.
But it’s a video posted to Instagram by the former Spice Girl that has raised eyebrows.
On Boxing Day (December 26), Victoria shared a video with her 33.4 million followers. It depicted her and her Santa hat-clad husband slow dancing to Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb’s ‘Guilty’.

Outlets such as news.com.au, the Daily Mail, and The Mirror have reported that this clip could serve as a slight barb.
The publications wrote that the lyric ‘And we’ve got nothing to be sorry for…’ may refer to their alleged feud with Brooklyn.
The businessman, who married Peltz in 2022, is rumoured to have fallen out with the Beckhams.
The allegation mill ramped up earlier this year when the pair decided not to attend any of the Beckham patriarch’s 50th birthday celebrations.
Further fuel was thrown onto the fire when Brooklyn failed to acknowledge his father’s knighthood in November.

It was also widely reported that Victoria and David had ‘unfollowed’ their son on social media - a claim that Cruz recently cleared up.
“NOT TRUE,” he wrote alongside a screenshot of an article implying that David and Victoria were the first to act.
“My mum and dad would never unfollow their son… Let's get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I,” he added.
Instead of spending Christmas with his mother, father, and siblings, Brooklyn nested with his wife, and her parents, American billionaire Nelson Peltz, 83, and former fashion model Claudia Heffner Peltz, 70.
“We wish everyone a merry christmas and a happy new year filled with so much love, peace and happiness,” the Lola actress wrote via Instagram.

Peltz’s Instagram post has attracted a flurry of comments from critics, with celebrity journalist Perez Hilton alleging: “Everyone EXCEPT your in-laws!”
“Only one mum n one dad Brooklyn they love you so much,” wrote someone else.
A third Instagram user commented: “The only women who will ever love you unconditionally is your mother.” (Sic)
