Halloween is quickly approaching, and Netflix isn't pulling any punches with its chilling offerings.
One that's due to hit the streaming site in October - as in 'it hasn't even been released yet' -already has a scarily good review of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series The Haunting of Hill House, based on Shirley Jackson's novel of the same name, has been described as a slow-building, ominous horror.

The show is illustrated through flashbacks and tells the story of five siblings in the Crane family - each are dealing with repressed trauma, family anguish and PTSD, following childhoods spent growing up in the eerie Hill House.
Over ten episodes the show will reveal the horrific haunting that occurred in the Crane's childhood home, and, perhaps even more terrifyingly, the impact it's had on them as adults - basically think part Hereditary, part IT... certainly sounds as though it has all the ingredients of great horror.
Unfortunately for the die-hard fright fans out there, the series doesn't drop until 12 October, but if the wait is too agonising Netflix have been teasing audiences with a trailer:
The show, helmed by Gerald's Game director Mike Flanagan, has already been dubbed 'Netflix's first great horror series', which is a bold claim, and certainly one we're willing to put to the test.

"This is one of the best shows of the year", GQ writes. "And one of the most truly chilling of all time."
Well, who are we to dispute an opinion as strident as that?
The streaming site really have gone all out with their Halloween season - 'Netflix and Chills'.
Earlier this week it was released, along with a whole host of original content, Netflix would be adding the 1980 Stephen King classic, The Shining.

And that's good news, surely - we all know Halloween just wouldn't be Halloween without a scary Stephen King film, so why not a truly terrifying classic? Jack Nicholson is at his most intense, so add in a haunted hotel, terrorising spirits, a psychic child and halls filled with blood, and you've got a good idea as to why you shouldn't go into room 237.
And then, towards the end October, Netflix will be releasing the big guns - a whole host of big-name originals.
Anyone who grew up with the 90s series Sabrina the Teenage Witch should be excited to know the Riverdale-based series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will finally make its debut.

Meanwhile, Castlevania's long-expected second season is expected to arrive at the same time.
No, it doesn't feel ideal to have to stare at our watches until the end of October for the terrifying originals, but hopefully they'll be worth the wait - and in the meantime it looks like The Haunting of Hill House can be relied upon to keep you occupied (or wide awake in terror) until then.
